Description

Hello! We are Roark and Zahra, a Canadian couple studying engineering and passionate about sustainable living, building, and community.

Roark is studying mechanical engineering and Zahra is studying civil engineering. Together, we are deeply interested in using our skills and knowledge to support hands-on projects that focus on sustainability, farming, and off-grid living.

We both grew up in Canada and have a shared love for nature, hiking, camping, and design. We are especially inspired by projects that bring people together around shared goals and long term vision. We are happiest when we are outdoors, learning new skills, and seeing meaningful work come to life.

Our goal is to gain experience from people and communities who are actively building sustainable lives, whether through farming and animal care, regenerative or alternative agricultural practices, off-grid infrastructure, or creative approaches to housing and land use. We are excited to learn from others and just as excited to contribute our own energy and knowledge to the projects we become a part of.

We are both hardworking, curious, and open minded. We enjoy working as a team and we’re not afraid to get our hands dirty. If you are looking for help with design, building, organizing, or need extra hands around your farm, home, or project site, we would love to hear from you.

We are using Workaway as a way to connect with people who are already doing what we dream of doing one day: living sustainably, creatively, and in harmony with the land. We are excited to meet you and learn from your experience.
