Hello there!

We are Rio (21) and Raven (22), both from Minneapolis, Minnesota. We have been travelling and adventuring together for the last two and a half years in our van. We are looking to continue our adventures and make new connections in the Southeastern US. We’ll be looking to stay and work in the months of March and April.

Rio just finished his bachelor degree in Biology and Environmental Studies and is now looking to explore his interests in sustainability and agriculture. His last semester was spent living on a wooden catamaran sailing boat going down the Mississippi River. He spent that time rigging the boat, cooking, moving gear, and fixing the boat with inventful wood working. Those four months with thirteen others introduced him to what living in community is like and the work that it takes.

At home in Minneapolis Rio works at his family's one man show diner, cooking, waiting tables, and washing dishes. He has spent two summers working in Arbory and in winters volunteering at his childhood wrestling team. Rio also helps his dad build his house and his dad’s other various projects. He spends his free time outdoors, hiking, camping, and rock climbing. As well as fixing up our little van home.

Raven has just graduated from Minneapolis’s local community college with an associates and is planning on continuing her degree in the social work field. She is passionate about supporting her community and likes to get involved by organizing local events and outdoor clubs through the city parks and recreation. Raven has gained skills from prior workaways working in greenhouses, harvesting and planting everything from apples to green beans to beets. She has experience operating power tools, with minor carpentry and now recently with sheep.

Raven works two jobs in Minneapolis both of which she loves. One at an upbeat and busy restaurant as a server, where she has cultivated strong communication and team work skills. The other at a daycare/preschool center where she works with a variety of age groups from newborns to 10 year olds.

We are interested in sustainable agriculture and growing skills in different farming practices and lifestyles. We are also excited to expand our cooking and carpentry skills. Both of us are experienced working with kids and would be delighted to work with a family. We like to get our hands dirty and try new things. We don’t mind roughing it, we’re happy to use a compost toilet and outdoor amenities. Thank you for checking out our profile, we are happy to call and chat. We would be interested in teaching English. We have both taken some Spanish classes throughout high school and collage but our skills are still pretty amateur. We would definitely be interested in strengthening them!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

We both have experience working with kids and some carpentry skills. Raven has previous work away experience with sheep and harvesting and planting. Raven has great interpersonal and community buildings skills that she uses at home in her jobs and organizing community events. Rio has experiencing cooking professionally at his family's restaurant. He has also worked in arbory using ropes, chainsaws and other power tools. Rio has rudimentary car mechanic skills and recently spent several months sailing and working on boats.
