Description

Hey, I’m Raine! I have just graduated from secondary school, and have decided to take a gap year, in which I want to travel the world as well as pick up new languages, skills, food and make friendships. I would describe myself as an always curious, outgoing, very open-minded, hardworking and adventure-seeking person, and can’t wait to meet new hosts!

I’m half Finnish, half Dutch and grew up in Rotterdam, the Netherlands, although I do make sure to visit my family in Finland at least once a year. I am currently still living at home in Rotterdam with my mother, sister and cat in a house with a beautiful garden. I love to cook, spend time in nature, have meaningful conversations and discover new places, flavours and languages. Additionally, I’ve been playing piano as well as water polo for seven years now. I graduated cum laude from a classical grammar school in Rotterdam, and I plan on studying next year. However, I am not yet sure where or what, as I love learning about so many subjects in differing fields of interest.

I have a passion for languages! Since I'm fluent in Finnish (native), Dutch (native) and English (Cambridge C2) as well as almost fluent in French (DELF B2) I would be more than happy to help others in learning those languages. I've even already taught Finnish at my local Finnish saturday language school! I am also keen on learning different languages or developing the ones I am a beginner in myself, as immersively and intensely as possible. I am particularly interested in keeping up my French and learning Spanish.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Working for an AirBnB host, I have experience in cleaning an entire apartment thoroughly yet quickly. I also work as a babysitter, which entails that I pick up and cook for up to 4 children as well as help them explore interests and make homework on a regular basis for well over a year now. Additionally, I have been a teaching assistant at my school, helping other students excel at ancient Greek, maths and physics.
