Hello, thank you for your interest.
I’m Nigel, I recently retired and moved into an apartment in the centre of Norwich, UK. I no longer have any pets or a garden to look after, so I’m now free to travel.
I’m excited to be finally “living to work” a practical person, eager and excited to use the skills I’ve learned while renovating a couple of homes and gardens to help my Host. I’m also keen to learn new techniques of doing things.
I’ve always had animals in my life till now and miss them badly, so hopefully my Host will have some animals to look after.
I have the ability and common sense to see what needs doing and just get on with it.
When not working I’m happy with my own company and don’t need to be entertained or involved all the time.
I’ve always struggle to learn a language without a purpose, so I’m hoping full immersion in the language and culture will help me to learn.
I love to cook Vegan/Vegetarian meals from scratch with fresh local ingredients and in season vegetables.
I don’t smoke or drink. And I like to keep my space clean and tidy.
I try to live a sustainable lifestyle, plastic, oil and gas free. I’m really keen to see how Costa Rica achieve this.
I love keeping up with technology especially if it offers a practical solution that will help reduce my electricity consumption.
I love long distance hiking and camping. Now in my 60’s I can still manage 40km a day. While hiking I like listening to music or a podcast and looking out for birds and other wildlife.

I’ve refurbished two run down houses myself. I can turn my hand to pretty much anything.
I’ve also designed and implemented two gardens. So have learned landscaping skills.
I used grow all my own veg using an Aquaponics system I built myself.
As I didn’t much money I had to learn how to maintain my car.
