Hi!👋 I`m Noam, a passionate animal lover.

I'm a 23 year old who's currently travelling and collecting meaningful experiences I can cherish later on - especially with animals!
I am a huge animal lover but have always had a special bond with dogs🤎🐾

My biggest passion is animal care, but I like children and have volunteered at a daycare (ages 6-9) before!

My Workaway journey so far🌍🌿:

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Because of my life-long interest in animals, I have learned a great deal about taking care of them. Feeding, walking, basic medical care, communicating and reading their body language and of course - giving them all the love they deserve with patience and attentiveness.
My family has 2 lovely rescued dogs🐕
Some of my experience also includes dog & house sitting outside of Workaway

My time spent at dog shelters gave me the experience needed for that kind of work, and while every shelter and sanctuary operates differently, I know the basics and learn quicker.

I live alone so I am very responsible, organized and independent.

I can clean, cook, bake, help with house chores and am very friendly.
I have lived in a communal space before.🏠

I have done office work and can help with emails, messages, basic design work etc, I can use Microsoft programs if needed.

I have an artistic hand and can help with arts and crafts projects🎨

I speak English and Hebrew fluently and have a good ear for language learning, so I like to learn a few helpful phrases in the local language

I can also help with some English! I am not a teacher but have helped some volunteers with improving their vocabulary and/or accent.

We really liked having Noam in our team. She had a sharp eye for the need of our animals. She has good organisational skills and much much love for the dogs. Sometimes this got in her way, but we'd rather have someone care too much than care too little! We wish you (and Annebelle) good travels!

I volunteered here for 2.5 months, from April to June 2025, and it was truly one of the best decisions I’ve ever made!
This was my first Workaway experience, and I’m so glad I ended up in such a sweet and welcoming place.

On-site I worked with Giannis and Nikos, who taught me a lot about the history of the dogs at the shelter, how to handle situations I hadn’t encountered before and general knowledge about Greece, the Greek language and the local area.
I did find the communication challenging at times due to language barriers and cultural differences, but it was all part of the learning experience.

In my first few weeks I worked with Jamie, a very experienced volunteer who was super helpful with insights about the area, the dogs, and the people we worked with. I also met Annebelle there, and thanks to this place made a new friend! Now we travel together and planning to volunteer again in the future.

The living conditions were simple but very good! Personally I loved the small house which was cozy and equipped with most of what we need, with a supermarket nearby. There’s a good shower and a new laundry machine which is very handy when you work with dogs :) It also comes with Rex, the local landlady’s dog who is such a delight to have around.

The dogs at the shelter are amazing! Words can’t capture how truly wonderful they are. So loving, cuddly, funny and full of character! None are aggressive toward people, although some were understandably anxious, shy or not very approachable. There were even a few I wished I could have adopted myself.

The shelter itself is relatively small which makes it perfect for anyone who wishes to bond with the dogs and build personal connections. It lacks in hygiene and requires some TLC but that is understandable, and that’s what we’re here for! Be prepared for hard but rewarding work, because every second you spend with those dogs is incredible.
Our main tasks included scooping poop, filling water buckets, cleaning the area, walking dogs, accompanying them to the vet and airport (for fostering and adoption), feeding, socializing, brushing, providing basic medical care and of course – giving them all the love we possibly could.

I would love to come back one day. Thank you Petra, Daphna, Karin, Nikos and Giannis for an experience I will never forget!
