Hi, we're Jan and Nathalie from Germany!
I, Nathalie, am currently working on my PhD in Germany. Since I will be done in a while, I want to use the time before starting a new job to get to know a new country.
I love travelling! Between school and university, I worked as an Au Pair in the USA and ever since I'm looking forward to staying abroad again. Of course, I've been on vacation, but living in a country and getting to know the people is so different to staying at a hotel!
What I like most is trying new things to learn something new. I also love the ocean and, for example, surfing or stand up paddling.
I, Jan, work at an office and also do volunteer work. My friends and family would say that I am an all-rounder because I like to work with my hands. I am the creative part of our relationship and work, for example, with kids on an art project. I like to ride the mountainbike and the motorcycle.
We are a real power couple, since we have been complementing each other for four years.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I, Nathalie, studied to become a teacher in Maths and English. Recently, I've also done additionally studies on teaching German and I learned the Czech language. I've always tutored kids but recently also adults. I'm volunteering in different projects, which helped me gathering a lot of experience.
During my year in the USA, my host family had a dog, of which I took care of and which was not new to me since my family also had many pets around.
I also like music a lot. I know how to play the clarinet and the piano. When I'm babysitting my neighbor, we always sing together :)
And I, Jan, have been working at an office as an administrator for 6 years. Since I was a child I'm interested in mechanics and can help me with anything myself like homework or rebuilding. My last project was a DIY camper, which took a lot of time but which was also a lot of fun! I also like animals, but, unfortunately, I am so busy in Germany that I cannot have my own pet. Whenever my cousin, though, goes on vacation, I babysit his dog. In my spare time, I like to draw pictures and experimenting with different paint. I’m also into photography. Whenever we have a family get together, I’ their photographer, although I also enjoy taking pictures of nature.
In our spare time, we also like to cook and bake. Recipes, though, are not meant for Nathalie but rather for Jan. Nathalie rather tries something new by intuition and most of the time, it doesn't taste too bad. And if it does, Jan can help out with his cooking skills.
We’re not professional gardeners (and the house plants are taken care of by Jan because Nathalie, unfortunately, does not have a green thumb), but we know how to work, since we've both grown up on the countryside.

Whenever friends ask what our hobbies are, we can't pin it down to just one. Playing at an orchestra is probably the most normal hobby for Nathalie and riding the motorcycle for Jan, but we could also name traveling, meeting friends, reading, learning new things, surfing and so on :)
Our free time can look quite different. On some days, we prefer to stay home and watch TV but, on other days, we like to meet friends, go to a lake, go on concerts and so on.
