Description

My name is Maya, I'm a 31 year old from NYC taking time in my life to slow travel and spend time around the world.
I'm using this open ended time in my life to travel and spend more time in nature, and explore a slower, more mindful life, that is filled with connection and creativity. I am also seeking out communities that might be a good place for me to settle in the future - but who knows!
I also love to experience other cultures in a real day to day way. I really want to experience cultures outside of what just the cities have to offer and also get to know the communities I am visiting.
I would also describe myself as a friendly and outgoing person who is pretty patient and has a go with the flow energy.

I graduated from University in 2017 with a bachelor's degree in history and have been working In Social Justice non-profits/NGOs since doing finance and administration. I am passionate about fight for equality and justice!
I love food and culture, and learning about a place that way, and I love to cook for others!I also love seeing how food Is made or where our food comes from.
I am currently seeking to incorporate more nature, connection to land, mindfulness, and deep human connection into my life and hope to do in my travels.
I am also becoming more of a practitioner of yoga. I love to listen to music and explore local music and cultuaral events. Most importantly I love to swim and being water feels really healing to me! I also love to laugh and think humor is so important.

My general interests are cooking, hiking, swimming, spending time in nature, reading fiction, history, art, music, films, yoga, and being with others.

I am happy to help teach English as a native English speaker and do a language exchange I have been re-learning Spanish for the past 4 months in Mexico and Chile and really want to continue practicing and speaking to improve my skills

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I love to cook and have many years of experience cooking many different cuisines, I would love to help prepare food with or for you!
I now have a lot of experience in hostel and hotel hospitality as well as guest services in retreat centers. I am very good at resolving any problems guests may have and in general making sure they feel welcome and taken care of. In addition, I've have a lot of experience in the general responsible of checking people in, housekeeping, setting up and serving meals, and being there to recommend or help them in any way,
I'm also no stranger to in depth cleaning and happy to help out with any cleaning and organizing that needs to get done. I especially love to organize and help create systems.
I have been working in finance and admin in non-profits for the last 6 years, so I can am happy to help with any online admin or finance related tasks, happy to offer my system and detail oriented brain.
I love nature and happy to learn anything to help with taking care of the land, gardening and animals. I am a quick learner and eager to help with with whatever is needed.
While I have never had a creative or artistic job, I did film photography, painting and collaging throughout my entire childhood and university years and would love to bring any of those hands-on artistic skills to the workaway. I still love photography and design and want to do them more!
