Hello!
I'm Mattia, 24 years old living in North-east Italy!
I always loved spending time outdoor, since I was a kid I enjoyed going hiking and climbing until I decided a couple years ago to turn this hobby into a job. I work as a hiking guide for most of the year, I lead both backpacking trips with italian clients in the Alps and walking holidays with english people showing them the highlights of this country.
Even if I really love my country and never really travelled much, in 2023 I spent 5 months in the USA hiking the Pacific Crest Trail, challenging myself in a new country relying just on the gear in my backpack.
Lately I thought about doing a Workaway and since I want to visit Norway since I was a teenager that's the first country I looked for. The big wilderness, the cold, the very different culture and many other things always attracted me towards this country.
I'm looking forward to get into this experience!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I studied Forest Science at university that means I took classes like:
- ecology
- botany
- silviculture
- geology
And so on...
I also worked in an organic farm/agriturismo for several months doing basically any job I could have done there: waiter, cashier, warehouse, pruining trees, weeding, etc.
I learned there the basics of agriculture, and how to use a forklift, a chainsaw and other tools.
I also worked for a summer in a mountain hut in the Alps, so I learned about hospitality too.
I like to sew, I sewed some of my hiking gear like backpack and sleeping bag.
And I love cooking! I hope I can share my Italian cuisine.
