Ciao, we are Debora and Matteo!
We are Italians and we are 32 and 34 years old.
A while ago, we decided to change our routine and search for something more in life.
Matteo quit his job in December 2022, and at the same time Debora started working online, so we decided it was time to convert our tiny van in a home and embark on an (un)expected journey :)
We left Italy in April 2023 and spent a few months in Spain and Portugal with the van, and then headed to India, with no plan except making new experiences.
We completed a 200 hrs Yoga Teacher Training in Rishikesh and then started traveling through Thailand. After that, we decided to move to Australia for a year to work in the mining sector in hospitality roles, and now we're in Iceland, looking for a new Workaway experience.
A little bit about us:
Debora: After studying languages and graduating in Cultural Mediation, I lived in London (UK) and Palma de Mallorca (Spain) for a few years. I like learning languages and I speak Italian (native), Spanish and English (fluently), a bit of French, and I undestand some Catalan and Portuguese. I would love to have a language exchange! During my years abroad, I worked in various fields, including tourism, retail, hospitality, and working with children. I currently work as a freelance Translator and Copywriter. I love traveling, reading, watching movies and series, practicing yoga, cooking, playing board games and role-play games like D&D, and one of my biggest passion is spirituality, esotericism, research and personal growth (especially through astrology and alchemy), and I also studied different healing techniques like Reiki and ThetaHealing. I am also passionate about self-production and sustainability, and enjoy making crafts like macramè and learning a bit of everything in general.
Matteo: I graduated in Agriculture and during my studies, I gained several years of experience in gardening, specializing in Arboriculture and tree climbing. I studied Permaculture in San Francisco (72-hour PDC), and for three years, I worked as the Botanical Director in a Swiss company growing hemp. I applied a lot of my knowledge and interests in the house and small land we had in Italy, focusing on horticulture, beekeeping, permaculture, self-production, home renovation, and DIY projects. I am also interested in exploring my soul and body through yoga and other spiritual disciplines.
