Traveling is a huge gift for us, which allows us to gain experiences that we could never have imagined at home in our familiar surroundings. Getting to know people, exchanging ideas, discussing and understanding history and cultural imprints from these experiences and encounters, we see as a great opportunity to not only grow personally, but also to rethink and reorient our own attitudes and ideas about life.

I, Maria, traveled the world first from 2014-2016. In New Zealand, as a WOOFer, I experienced what cultural exchange means, what distinguishes vacation from travel. Connecting with locals in a country, helping out, getting involved and constantly learning is my fuel. I guess, you can see that attitude in my jobs as well: I am a trained teacher (Biology and German) and a scientist. For some time now, I have also been working as a mentor in the field of mental health. I am particularly interested in nature and its many effects on our human health. This is where I really want to learn: How can we get more in touch with nature again? How do we manage to deal with ourselves and the environment in a sustainable way in this day and age? That’s why I’m here on workaway.

For Rob and me it’s a big dream to go on this journey together. Learn about ourselves as well while engaging with the world. Rob is an incredibly sociable, fun-loving, and open-minded person who has spent the last few years working too much exclusively with his head and not enough with his hands. Definitely time to change that, because that's what his heart beats for. Raised in Germany and the UK, he has now found his home in the south of Germany in a small village surrounded by nature.

We both eat a vegetarian/vegan diet. We love to cook and to experiment culinary. We are energetic and active, prefer to spend our free time in nature (and there very much in the mountains... be it hiking or climbing). We have worked on a mountain hut in the Alps, hiked along the Algarve for several days with a small backpack and now we want to gain new experiences together.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Having done many different things before, we are good at adapting to new circumstances and learn new things quickly.

I am good at planning & organizing. I am a person of implementation.
I am interested in healthy lifestyle, healthy cooking (mainly vegan/vegetarian) and everything related to nature. As a scientist & human being, I am interested in how you/me and our world are connected and how we manage to stay in balance. As an educator, I love to share knowledge, be it about the German language, biology topics or mental health. I speak German (native) and English (fluently).

Robin can give a good hand. Be it in the house or in the garden. He speaks German, English and some French. He is not only interested in sports, but also sporty himself. He also likes to spend time with children or with animals.
