🇺🇸 Hi 😊 My name is Marta and I’m from Spain. At the moment I’m traveling around the world, but when I return to my country I usually spend my time between my hometown Zaragoza and the Pyrenees.
I studied Interior Design and currently work as a freelance illustrator. I love the world of design and creativity, and of course learning new things.
Traveling opens up a world of possibilities for me, and doing it through platforms like Workaway gives me the chance to try new experiences, live alongside local cultures, meet people from all over the world, and push myself to improve my terrible English. And if I can also contribute to local projects that help make the planet a little better, even better.
Over the past few years I’ve helped in several places. I spent three months in Nepal, staying in two different homes. In one place I helped with gardening and the vegetable garden in Kathmandu, and in the other, a small farm, I also helped with activities for children from the local school.
Last year I traveled around Central America. In Antigua, Guatemala, I helped in a small restaurant owned by a local woman. After that, I spent two months in Playa Gigante at El Tumbo Hostel, where I helped clean rooms, manage guest check-ins and check-outs, and run a small café with surfboard rentals.
Later I went to Costa Rica, to Puerto Escondido, where I helped a family run their small cabin rental business. I worked on garden maintenance and helped the mother organize and clear the land of weeds.
In Iceland I worked for two months on a dairy farm. It was quite a tough job and it made me rethink my consumption of animal products.
I also spent three weeks in Portugal, in the Algarve region, helping a family repair a large wooden fence and the floor around their swimming pool.
I love discovering new things and being able to help. I also really love animals — I’m the kind of person who stops to pet every dog or cat I meet along the way.

🇪🇸 Hola 😊 Me llamo Marta y soy española. Actualmente estoy viajando por el mundo, aunque cuando vuelvo a mi país paso el tiempo entre mi ciudad natal, Zaragoza, y los Pirineos.
Estudié Diseño de Interiores y actualmente trabajo como freelance en proyectos de ilustración. Me encanta el mundo del diseño y la creatividad, y por supuesto aprender cosas nuevas.
Viajar me abre a un mundo de posibilidades, y hacerlo a través de plataformas como Workaway te da la oportunidad de probar nuevas experiencias, convivir con la cultura local, conocer personas de todas partes del mundo y obligarme a mejorar mi horrible inglés. Y si además puedo colaborar en proyectos locales que ayuden a mejorar el planeta, mucho mejor.
A lo largo de estos años he ayudado en varios lugares. Estuve tres meses en Nepal, viviendo en dos casas diferentes. En una ayudé con jardinería y el huerto en Katmandú, y en la otra, una pequeña granja, también colaboraba con actividades para los niños del colegio local.
El año pasado recorrí Centroamérica. En Antigua Guatemala ayudé en un pequeño restaurante de una chica local. Después estuve dos meses en Playa Gigante, en el hostal El Tumbo, donde limpiaba habitaciones, organizaba entradas y salidas de huéspedes y llevaba una pequeña cafetería con alquiler de tablas de surf.
Más tarde estuve en Costa Rica, en Puerto Escondido, ayudando en un pequeño negocio familiar de cabañas. Allí colaboraba con el mantenimiento del jardín y ayudaba a la madre de la familia a organizar y limpiar el terreno de maleza.
En Islandia trabajé durante dos meses en una granja de vacas lecheras. Fue un trabajo bastante duro y me hizo replantearme mi consumo de productos derivados de los animales.
También estuve tres semanas en Portugal, en la zona del Algarve, con una familia ayudándoles a reparar una gran valla de madera y el suelo de la piscina.
Me encanta descubrir cosas nuevas y poder ayudar. Además, amo mucho a los animales; soy de las personas que se pierde acariciando a un perro o un gato por el camino.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Soy diseñadora de interiores, aunque he trabajado en otras áreas de diseño artístico. Aparte he estado en otros voluntariados de granjas. Se me da bien la jardinería, cuidar animales, cocinar y limpiar.
