Hi
I'm Kirsten and I live in New Zealand. I'll be travelling to South East Asia with my nearly 18 year old son Luca for a final backpacking excursion before he heads off on his own travel adventures. We love to travel and we're excited to be embarking on new adventures in December. I work as a primary and secondary school teacher. Both Luca and I love meeting new people in their local environment, learning and sharing stories together. Together, we've travelled a lot around New Zealand, Australia and Japan where we lived with local families in rural locations and helped out with childcare, gardening, and farm based building projects. We are hard workers who love a challenge and can work independently, as well as get along with others. We loved our last Workaway experience so much we're looking for a similar situation in Vietnam in December this year. Then we will backpack through Cambodia and Thailand.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I'm a qualified teacher with over 10 years teaching experience and TEFL qualifications. I have lots of DIY skills having renovated my house and am currently building a campervan. I enjoy working in my organic garden, cooking, sewing clothes, singing and exploring the outdoors. I've travelled and lived in many amazing places around the world. My nearly 18 yer old son Luca is into climbing, paddle boarding and surfing, camping and travelling. He plays piano, guitar, bass and ukulele and loves acting and singing in plays and musicals. He's also a great cook and is keen to learn to cook 'real' Asian food. We enjoy getting to know new people and helping them learn English, as well as learning new languages in return. In 2024, I completed two Workaway stays with my partner and son in rural Japan. While there, we both worked on building projects like compost toilets, chicken houses and wood sheds, helped with gardening, cooking and childcare. Absolutely loved it and am so excited to be heading off to do this again! Unfortunately, my partner will be left behind. This is a mum and son trip.
