Hi! I'm Leona as per my passport but I prefer to go by León.

I'm from Ireland and I tend to be a very calm, positive and open person; Deep conversations are something I really enjoy. I also enjoy working hard to accomplish tasks and I love the satisfaction of a job well done. I'm a big fan of stories in any and all formats, be it books, series, music or verbal. I would only love to hear what stories you have to tell!

I'm new to Workaway and am super excited about the adventures it has to offer. I've always dreamed of travelling but was always too nervous as a solo traveller. This seems like the perfect avenue to explore the world with less fear attached to the experience.

My goal from doing Workaway is to grow and learn. I would like to have experiences that I wouldn't otherwise have, explore different ways of living, meet interesting people and further strengthen my sense of self along the way.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I grew up in the Irish countryside so I’m no stranger to manual labour. I’ve spent days at the bog footing and bagging turf, helping renovate my home house and yard (painting, weeding etc.) and general hands-on maintenance.

I used to work as a housekeeper for a while and it was surprisingly one of my favourite jobs. So I have quite a bit of cleaning experience and am a very handy duster.

I'm a big fan of animals! I grew up with all sorts, from Joeys to Rottweilers. As such, I have a lot of experience with dogs and cats (small experience with horses + cows) and I love being around them. They bring me so much peace and joy.

In general, I like all art. I enjoy painting and colouring etc. although I'm not that good. But art for arts sake ;)

In terms of education, I have a Bachelor's in English and Gaeilge (Irish) with a diploma in Creative Writing. I love to write. It's one of my life's passions, be it journaling, essays or script writing. One of my proudest achievements is that I've helped ghostwrite an LGBTQ self-help book.

I have a TEFL degree and have spent the last year teaching English to Spanish adults and some kids. In doing so and living in Spain, I've learned some basic Spanish and hope to continue improving it.

What skills would I like to build?
I'd love to learn about DIY, gardening and other practical skills; I love hands-on work but haven't had as much opportunity to do it as I'd like. I'd also love to improve my cooking skills because while I know how to feed myself, I'd love to have a better knowledge of how to cook well. And, of course I’d like to develop my Spanish.

Mostly, I love learning and experiencing new things. I enjoy a challenge and always give it my all.
