Hi, I’m Julia!

I am 40 years old and live in a small town in North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany, with my son Jan (6) and his father, Eike (42). I work as a Marketing Manager for the German food retailer REWE.

Eike and I joined Workaway in 2018 as a couple and had a wonderful experience in San Diego, where we helped a family with garden maintenance and a tile and mosaic project around their pool. What we enjoyed most was not only the work itself, but also cooking together and spending relaxed evenings sharing meals, stories and laughter. I also have house- and dog-sitting experience through TrustedHousesitters in beautiful Tuscany.

*️⃣I am now looking for a new Workaway adventure for myself in the early coming year (and possibly a family experience in the summer of 2026).*️⃣

I’m an open-minded, friendly and reliable person who enjoys contributing, learning new things and connecting with people. I’m creative, hands-on and happy to help with gardening, cooking, light building projects or everyday family life. Art is an important part of my life, and I recently rediscovered my love for painting and drawing. I also enjoy yoga, dancing (Zumba 😄) and spending time outdoors.

As we live very close to the Dutch border, my family and I spend many weekends and holidays in the Netherlands, but we also love discovering new countries and cultures. At just six years old, Jan has already visited Austria, Spain, Portugal, Canada and many parts of Germany. We all enjoy cooking, baking, gardening and building things — and, most of all, spending time with other people and sharing good moments together.

Perhaps next year, we’ll have the chance to share moments like these together.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

We are pretty much open to any jobs. For us, this experience is mostly about the people we´ll meet and be working with. As we will be traveling with our son who will be 14 months in June 2020, we would have to split work or find tasks that would include him, like child care for the hosts, for example.
When it comes to personal skills and preferences: I am the creative type and love all kinds of creative work that include painting, drawing, crafting and things like that. I am also a Marketing professional and will be happy to bring in my knowledge for your business if needed. Besides German and English, I also speak Dutch fluently as I studied (“Food & Business”) in The Netherlands.
Eike has a diploma in business administration and works as a Key Account Manager. He has various skills and talents and is pretty flexible about potential tasks. Only sophisticated craftsman jobs could be kind of a challenge. :)
We are both animal lovers. Taking care of animals would be quite cool. We are also pretty decent cooks and enjoy cooking for family and friends (and also for potential hosts, needless to say).
Other than that, we are just open-minded, communicative, easy-going yet reliable and trustworthy.
