Hi! I'm Joshua, I've come from Melbourne, Australia to travel Europe and and learn about how different people live! I'm not young but that's a good thing because I'm very easy going and I know the value of working hard.
This is my second round of workaway, previously doing it during 2016/17 and I've decided to take a few months career break. I am a qualified carpenter but also have experience as a farm hand, mechanics and generally labouring.
Hope to meet you soon! At the moment I have built an interest in traditional round timber framing and sustainable building practices, as well as passive house building. Not to mention I love animals and happy to get into some dirty work as long as there is a shower at the end of the day. Laid back, not a picky eater, I do enjoy a beer or two being an Aussie. Looking forward to seeing if we are a good fit.

Currently in Samerberg, Bavaria til late aug
Aug - Mid sept: anywhere between Bavaria to Belgrade.
Mid Oct-Jan 2024: Hungary, Slovenia, Greece, Romania, Poland, France, Scotland..

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Excellent at cleaning and don't mind getting dirty, studied relaxation massage as a therapist, has worked some hospitality, and carried out events coordinating. I also looked after youth to support and develop their skills and confidence to become contributive citizens of the world. I have a technical background.
Able to carry out some car repairs and general building maintenance.

Since my last time travelling solo in 2017, I have now become a carpenter capable of carrying out repairs and new builds, not travelling with tools however.
I can work independently after being shown what to do, no nonsense positive worker!

England, Devon - Worked at a smallholding/farm in the south of England tending to chickens, goats, cows and ducks (feeding, watering, mucking out).

Morocco, Tagounite - Working at a Riad in the desert in Morocco, making mud bricks, cooking and cleaning for guests staying at the Riad, looking after animals and some organic gardening!

Spain, Malaga - Spent time deep cleaning at Buddhist meditation retreat

Scotland, Spinningdale - Working on an Eco build round timber framed house building ledge and brace doors and cleaning out/organisation of timber framing workshop, learning about permaculture!

Serbia, Belgrade - Volunteering at a Refugee NGO with preparing food for daily meals to be distributed to camp, receiving, processing and warehousing donated goods from affiliated organisations, and process them to be sent out to neighbouring camps around the country. Learning the operations of a grass roots movement for a very well organised NGO

I'm a hands on, quick learner and very hardworking! My hobbies are hiking, camping, offroading- travelling, reading, swimming/surfing/scuba/snorkling, eating, buddhism and enjoying a good beer or whiskey. Big fan of animals, land and marine! Hoping to get some experience and to one day work in conservation. I enjoy learning new skills and am hoping to find a new passion during my travels for the next career in my life! Otherwise I'm really relaxed and happy to be able to put in a good days work and hopefully to make lots of friends while doing it!
