Description
Hello!
My name is Jonathan, I am a 28 years old French traveller currently living in Ōsaka, on a Working Holiday Visa. This is my third time visiting Japan, a country I truly love for its culture, food, landscapes, and way of life. My main goal for this Workaway is to experience a Japanese lifestyle while learning Japanese. And in the future, I hope to work and live in Japan.
I spent 4 months in Hokkaido snowboarding and working as a waiter. After that, I realised a Workaway in Sasayama (Hyōgo-ken) where my routine was gardening in the morning and "hiking, visiting, going to coffee shops, taking pictures and studying Japanese" during my days off. I am now based in Ōsaka.
Back in France, I was working as a Materials Engineer in the quality department for three years in Aix-en-Provence (next to Marseille). During that time, I studied Japanese with a Japanese teacher for two years and can speak a little bit (around N5 level). I am motivated to improve through daily conversation and real-life experience.
I practiced Kyūdō for two years and a half with a Japanese sensei. Through Kyudo, I learned values such as respect, discipline, patience, and humility, which I try to apply in my daily life. I also used to play music: piano and accordion.
As for my time as a student, I worked in various summer jobs such as: a touristic guide in a cave, a lifeguard in Nice, and a communal employee. I also studied for one year in Scotland so I have no problem speaking English.
I enjoy outdoor activities, nature, animals, music, exchanging with people and play games from time to time. I am clean, respectful, punctual and reliable. I can work independently, in a team or carefully follow instructions. I am open to all kinds of jobs/tasks.
Thank you for taking your time reading my profile. I look forward to meeting you.

I am currently travelling around Japan until November 2026 and would like to learn/improve my Japanese. I am a beginner around N5 N4 (but without the Kanji). In the future, I hope to live and work in Japan. And I believe speaking Japanese is the first step. I can teach you French (native) and English ( I spent 1 year in Scotland during my studies and worked in a international environment for 3 years before leaving for Japan). -

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
In my parent home. We live in a house surrounded by forest next to a small village. I am used to maintain the swimming pool, light the fireplace, weeding, cutting grass, cutting wood using a chainsaw and sometimes chopping the log using the axe. I also used to help my uncle for manual work (from renovating to gardening). As well as as sharing the chores with my mother.
I helped to raise my two younger cousins (boys) when they were coming over to our house for holidays (4 months per year when they were younger). I was not helping with changing a baby's diaper but I did everything else. And I did so until they became student.
I really like spending time with my grandmother. At her home, I enjoy taking her out for a walk next to the see and eating something later...
During my student days, I worked as: a touristic guide in a cave, a lifeguard in Nice, and a communal employee. It helped me develop a sense of responsibility, attention to detail.
Before leaving for Japan, I was working as a Materials Engineer in the quality department for three years in Aix-en-Provence (next to Marseille). It enabled me to improve my ability to work in a team as well as work independently, develop an international mindset and analytical skills. -
