Description
Hi, I’m Thomas!
I’m a 31 years old French backpacker and I’ve been travelling for over a year now.
I'm in Working Holiday Visa in Japan since beggining of september.
I have a background in eco-construction engineering and I’m also a carpenter, with a strong passion for traditional craftsmanship and alternative building projects.
I’m particularly passionate about traditional timber framing, but I’m also very interested in eco-designed and sustainable buildings. I love learning through practical work, discovering traditional techniques, and sharing my own skills and experience with others.
I’ve already done quite a bit of woofing in Europe, and I really enjoy the spirit behind it, getting involved in a project, being part of a community, and sharing everyday life with people. This will be my first experience with Workaway.
While travelling in Japan, I’m especially looking for experiences connected to traditional Japanese carpentry and timber construction, while also enjoying a good balance between working, discovering the area and sharing time with people.
I’m an easy-going and curious person. I love laughing, sharing passions and hobbies, learning from others, and meeting new people.
I’d be really happy to take part in your project and contribute with my skills and energy.
I’d love to be part of your adventure! :) -

Quelles sont vos compétences ?
I’m very independent and have a wide range of skills.
I’ve worked as a self-employed carpenter, so I’m used to taking responsibility for technical and precise tasks and working independently.
I love sharing my knowledge and learning from others. I still have a lot to learn, which is one of the reasons I’m here in Japan.
I’ve already worked on many different types of ecological construction, including wood, straw, and natural earth construction, as well as lime work. I have experience with traditional timber framing (mortise and tenon joints, full-scale layout), electrical work, and I also know how to weld.
I’m comfortable in the kitchen as well. I also enjoy spending time with children and helping take care of them when needed, having grown up with many younger cousins.
I’m particularly interested in woodworking, but I’m also open to any other tasks you may have for me :)
I’m also interested in metalworking and pottery. -
