Animal care

Description

My 16 year old daughter and I are looking for our next WorkAway. We are passionate about animals and love travelling, nature, gardening, meeting new people and being outdoors as much as possible. My daughter will be studying animal management at college from September 2026 so we can offer hands on practical work with animals while seeking a different experience to our lives at home in England.

We have done 3 previous WorkAways, all at a Spanish animal sanctuary where we fed, walked, cleaned enclosures and groomed ponies, donkeys, goats, dogs, cats, chickens and geese. We also helped repair enclosures and worked on garden projects.

We are self sufficient and happy to cook for ourselves and entertain ourselves when we are not working, and will probably have our own car. We are equally happy to spend time with our hosts, sharing stories, cooking, whatever works best for everyone.

Animals are our passion. We currently have 2 pet cats and 2 guinea pigs which we rescued. We would love to have more pets of our own but it is not practical, so we look after our neighbours pets when they are away or working long hours. We are intermediate horse riders so very comfortable around large and small animals and anything in between. I am a keen gardener and would like to learn more about growing produce to improve my own fruit and vegetable growing at home.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I run an educational charity in the UK. I am therefore experienced at managing staff and working as a team. I am very organised and practical and enjoy finding solutions to problems and I can turn my hand to pretty much any task required, and definitely not afraid of hard work. We are both fit and able to work outside.

I am also a keen gardener and look after our pets.
