Description

My name is Jens, I am a 29 year old man from Norway/the UK. For the past few years I have been working as a kindergarten teacher and a musician (I play the clarinet, guitar and piano), and travelling and volunteering in Nepal and India.

This November I'm doing a short tour of Japan with my band, and I've decided to stay on there until mid-January (after flying halfway across the world to get there I feel it would be a shame not to do some exploring!)

My professional background is in kindergarten teaching, and I also have experience teacher older children (6 to 16 years old). I have a CELTA qualification for teaching English as a foreign language, and classroom experience from two schools in Nepal, where I worked as a volunteer teacher in 2023. I love working with children, and I am passionate about making my teaching engaging, interactive and fun - I also studied theatre for a year, and I like to use a lot of drama techniques and exercises in my lessons.

I am also interested in organic farming, sustainable living, building and architecture, and would love to learn more in all of these areas. Last year I went on a working holiday in Spain and renovated an old house using lime mortar - this experience sparked an interest in traditional building techniques. I would love to do more work of this kind.

I write competently in English and Norwegian, and can help with online marketing or writing for websites if this is something you need.

I love music, art and poetry, and good conversations about life, the universe and everything. Nature and silence give me energy, as do meaningful interactions with people. I love hiking, skiing, climbing, and winter swimming above all (back home in Norway I try to jump in the sea every day!)
