Description

My name is Jed, and I am having a gap year in Europe this year (2026), travelling and working. I am 18. In 2027 I plan to go to university and study science. I work as a sailing coach at my local sailing club, and as a maths tutor during the week after school. I have a big passion for the outdoors, and I enjoy sailing, snowboarding, hunting, surfing, hiking, rock climbing, mountain biking, football, music and fly fishing.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I am a maths tutor at a local tutoring place which is a great job to challenge my brain and learn valuable skills for teaching and learning. I am also a sailing coach, I coach younger sailors at the Napier Sailing Club during the sailing season. For the past 3 years I have also worked on apple orchards in Hawkes Bay, thinning and counting apples. I have experience working on farms. At school I studied many subjects, including the practical subject of engineering. I have completed the Duke of Edinburgh award (outdoor education and community service). Earlier in 2025 I was selected for the BLAKE Expedition to the Subantarctic Islands, this is a program for young environmental leaders. I was also captain of my school sailing team in 2024 and 2025.
