We are both interested in exploring hidden gems around Canada, hiking, swimming, skiing... all of the above! We are an active couple with farming backgrounds who are wanting to learn new skills.

Description

To all searching hosts in need of reliable and trustworthy help, Olly and I are ready to work hard with you to succeed in all aspects of your business/opportunity.

We arrived in Vancouver, Canada at the end of May 2025, both with two year Working Holiday visas from our home New Zealand. We are currently working on a Ranch in Hinton, Alberta. Our primary roles range from customer service representatives, tour guides, garden maintenance, and housekeeping. It is a rewarding job that we both really enjoy. We are currently on the lookout for Spring/Summer 2026 opportunities, preferably in BC or the Yukon.

We are looking for a workaway where we can experience the best of what Canada has to offer. Preferably we would like to stay on season, we have not made any plans for next year as of yet.

We have a tidy Toyota Sienna that gets us from A to B with no issues, two year working holiday visas, and a hard working attitude to all tasks, rain or shine.

Olly grew up on a sheep and beef farm so has always been around animals, a few years ago Olly's family moved into cherries and a few other types of produce growing. He has a degree in Horticulture Management from Lincoln University so is a very knowledgeable and practical worker. Over the years of working in the cherry industry, Olly has worked with a lot of backpackers who come to NZ for the picking season which has really developed his interest in traveling the world.

I (Jasmyne) also grew up on an orchard of grapes and apples. We have a 100 year old family farm that has transitioned from sheep farming, to wine growing. I have a strong background in hospitality/customer service, and I have also been working as a landscaper for the last two years in Queenstown so am definitely not afraid of getting my hands dirty.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I (Olly) grew up on a sheep and beef farm down the south island of New Zealand. From a young age i was helping out my dad with the farm work. I am no stranger to big or small animals, and I have worked with heavy farm machinery.
- I have been a picker, packer , and salesman of cherries and other produce for local businesses in my hometown.
- My summer and winter school breaks from Uni were working for Domain Thomason vineyard doing general maintenance such as weeding, pruning vines, pulling out netting, and harvesting.
- For the last two years I have been an Orchard Technician for CentralPac Ltd, doing all the spraying all year around. I also took care of minor irrigation reapers, sewing nets, and any jobs that needed doing. I am a hard worker, self motivated, and excited to learn new things.

I (Jasmyne) have been working is hospitality roles for the past 6+ years. I am a bubbly people person who wants to do the job once and do it right.
- I have done a range of roles within hospitality and customer service roles ranging from server, breakfast supervisor, customer service representative, administration assistant and all in between.
- Doing landscaping for the last two years has helped me rediscover my love for the outdoors and the satisfaction of doing a physical job well. I am self motivated and enjoy problem solving.

We are both great workers who bring a range of experience and skills to any role. We work well together, individually, and in a team enviroment. The most important thing is we are wanting to learn and expand our knowledge with the help of workaway opportunities here in Canada. We are happy to try anything.

When we first arrived to Canada, we used TrustedHouseSitters which gave us the opportunity to live in Gibsons, Sechelt, Duncan and Nanaimo with some very sweet animals to keep us company. We received all 5 star reviews, it was a perfect balance between van camping and house/pet sitting.

Olly's personal hobbies are woodworking/carving. He has made gifts by hand for his friends and family. He also has a knack for fixing things and tinkering. He likes hunting, fishing, and hiking. Olly grew up adventure racing and playing field hockey. Olly is also a great skiier and wants to give snowboarding a go on the powder we have only heard stories about here in Canada.

Jasmyne's personal hobbies are arts and crafts, painting etc. Hiking beautiful landscapes, swimming in crystal clear lakes, and snorkeling in the ocean. I joined an ice hockey team last winter and absolutely loved it! I am an average skiier but am wanting to get better at it this winter season!
