Hi! :) My name is Josep Maria Rocafort (although everyone calls me Pepe). I'm from Barcelona (Spain) and just finished my studies. Starting next October, I’ll be travelling as much as I can around Chile and nearby countries. I’m very excited to meet new people, experience a different rhythm of life, and I’m eager to learn many new skills and expose myself to ideas and people I wouldn’t normally come across.

Here at home, I've been back and forth from the countryside and city life, so I adapt pretty well to both environments. I've grown up in contact with rural life but also grabbing the metro at peak hour in the weekdays.

When it comes to my hobbies and passions, they’re currently very focused around outdoors. Hiking, climbing and a bit of alpinism. I also have a strong connection to music, which has been a big part of my life. I play the trombone, and I can play a bit other instruments as well. Making music is something I genuinely enjoy, and I see it as a really fun and meaningful way to connect with others.

Another thing I’m passionate about is creating and fixing things. Over the years, I’ve always been into programming, robotics and electronics, I've built many projects of my own so I have some experience and also taught many classes to children and adults so I also have experience teaching.
I also love hands-on work like building simple objects out of wood and sometimes a little metal. It’s something that brings me a lot of satisfaction, the idea to bring to reality and the journey it brings figuring things out. I'm now specially eager to gain experience in building in general but also natural building, I've been interested in this for a while and would love to perhaps some day apply it in a home of my own. Further, although I have little experience I've been for a long time with an interest in permaculture and community living so exposing myself to these things to learn is also something that I'm very excited about.

I'm really open to everything right now, I want to learn, get out of my comfort zone, and enjoy the ride. Hopefully, we’ll get to meet, learn from each other and have a lot of fun. See you soon! :)

¡Hola! :) Me llamo Josep Maria Rocafort (aunque todo el mundo me llama Pepe). Soy de Barcelona (España) y acabo de terminar mis estudios. A partir de octubre, empezaré a viajar tanto como pueda por Chile y los países cercanos. Estoy muy ilusionado por conocer gente nueva, vivir a otro ritmo y con muchas ganas de aprender nuevas habilidades y de exponerme a ideas y personas que normalmente no encontraría en mi entorno habitual.

Aquí en casa, he ido alternando entre la vida en el campo y en la ciudad, así que me adapto bastante bien a ambos entornos. Se podría decir que crecido muy en contacto con la vida rural, pero también me he acostumbrado a coger el metro en hora punta entre semana.

En cuanto a mis aficiones y pasiones, ahora mismo están muy centradas en el aire libre: senderismo, escalada y un poco de alpinismo. También tengo una conexión muy fuerte con la música, que ha sido una parte importante de mi vida. Toco el trombón, y también sé tocar un poco otros instrumentos. Hacer música es algo que realmente disfruto y lo veo como una forma divertida y significativa de conectar con otras personas.

Otra cosa que me apasiona es crear y arreglar cosas. Desde hace años me interesa la programación, la robótica y la electrónica, he hecho muchos proyectos por mi cuenta, así que tengo algo de experiencia, y también he dado muchas clases tanto a niños como a adultos, por lo que también tengo experiencia enseñando.
Me encanta el trabajo manual, como construir objetos sencillos con madera o incluso algo de metal. Me da mucha satisfacción convertir una idea en realidad y todo el proceso que implica resolver los retos que surgen por el camino.
Ahora especialmente tengo muchas ganas de ganar experiencia construyendo cosas, sobre todo con materiales naturales, una parte de mi imagina lo bonito que seria quizás aplicar lo aprendido en mi propia casa algún dia . Aunque tengo poca experiencia práctica, desde hace tiempo también me interesa mucho la permacultura y la vida en comunidad, así que también me hace mucha ilusión acercarme a todo esto para aprender.

Ahora mismo estoy muy abierto a todo: quiero aprender, salir de mi zona de confort y disfrutar del proceso. Ojalá podamos conocernos, aprender juntos y pasarlo bien. ¡Hasta pronto! :)

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I think I thrive when I'm faced with problems that need solving , no matter how simple they might seem. I enjoy thinking things through and figuring out how to make them work. I’m especially curious about areas like construction or gardening. I wouldn’t call myself an expert (yet), but I feel like I could pick things up and improve quickly with some hands-on experience.

I’ve had some experience teaching robotics to kids, so I’m comfortable working with people and in group settings. I’ve also spent a fair bit of time around electronics and computers, so I’d be happy to lend a hand with anything in that space too.

I speak Catalan, Spanish, and English fluently, and I can understand and speak some French.
