Description
Sokhnamai Kane: I’m 22 years old, originally from New York City, and recently graduated from the University of Pennsylvania. I’ve always loved exploration, cultural exchange, and meeting people from different backgrounds. Although I grew up in a large city, I’ve often felt most grounded in nature and spaces that encourage meaningful human connection. I have extensive experience working with children through babysitting and supporting special needs students, which has taught me patience, empathy, adaptability, and the importance of creating supportive environments. I genuinely enjoy connecting with others through everyday life, conversation, and shared experiences, and I’m always excited by opportunities to immerse myself in new cultures and communities.
Diara Kane: I am from New York City, but part of my early childhood in Dakar instilled in me a love for exploration, community, and connection. Though I grew up in an urban environment, I have always felt most grounded in nature and remote spaces. For the past two years, I have worked as a high school teacher, and my greatest joy comes from supporting young people—guiding them, learning from them, and watching them grow into themselves. My love for children is truly at the center of everything I do.
I am deeply committed to community engagement, hands-on service, and environmental work. Some of my recent volunteer experiences include:
Jordan Desert Camp (2023): Assisted the host by building a website and supporting daily program needs, contributing to youth-focused programming in a remote setting.
Amazon Rainforest (2023): Lived with a local family deep in the forest, strengthening my passion for environmental work, community engagement, and immersive service.
Sri Lanka (2024): Spent two weeks helping elders run their home, hotel, and garden, gaining hands-on experience in community support and daily care.
These experiences continue to shape my purpose, and I am actively seeking immersive opportunities where I can blend my love for nature with my dedication to uplifting children and the communities around them.

I have been to 5/7 continents alone - everywhere but Asia and Antartica. I love traveling and immersing myself in different countries. I am very friendly and adaptable. I can live in different environments with ease. I love working in nature and I love working with kids. I have an extensive background working with children!
