Hi! I'm Gabriel, a 34-year-old, from Romania, currently living in Brașov, a city surrounded by mountains and nature.

I've lived in several countries over the years, including the United States, London (UK), and Ibiza (Spain). Every place has taught me something different, but eventually I realized that London, despite being a city I still love, no longer matched the lifestyle I wanted. It had become too crowded, too expensive, and a bit too hectic for me. Moving back to Brașov gave me the balance I was looking for—easy access to nature, plenty of hiking, and being close to my friends.

At the same time, I don't think I've found my final destination yet. There are still so many cultures, people, and places I want to experience, which is why I joined Workaway. I hope to meet interesting people, discover places I wouldn't normally visit.

One place that has stayed with me is Ibiza—but probably not for the reason most people expect. I lived in the quieter north of the island, surrounded by nature rather than nightlife. What I loved most was the atmosphere and the people: creative, open-minded, intelligent, and down-to-earth. It's a place I often think about returning to. Then again, maybe there's another place in the world that will surprise me in the same way.

One of my favourite recent trips was to Indonesia. I spent two weeks working remotely from Bandung before taking time off to explore Raja Ampat. Snorkeling among untouched coral reefs, surrounded by incredible marine life, was one of the most peaceful and beautiful experiences I've ever had. It reminded me how much I enjoy simple moments in extraordinary places.

There are still plenty of adventures on my list. I'd love to spend some time in Madeira, both for its landscapes and hiking trails. Walking the Camino de Santiago is another dream of mine, as is completing Via Transilvanica, Romania's long-distance trail that crosses the country from north to south. I think journeys like these are a great way to slow down, connect with nature, and experience a place at a different pace.

For work, I'm a Forward Deployed Engineer at a Voice AI company. I work remotely during the day, which gives me the freedom to travel. My job is interesting, but I don't think it defines who I am. What matters more to me is staying curious, meeting good people, exploring the world, and collecting experiences rather than things.

I'm looking forward to meeting hosts and fellow travellers, contributing where I can, learning new skills, sharing stories, and hopefully creating memories that will last long after the journey is over.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Although my professional background is in technology, I'm just as happy stepping away from a computer and getting involved in practical, hands-on work.

I work as a Forward Deployed Engineer for a Voice AI company, so I'm comfortable solving problems, learning quickly, communicating with different people, and staying organized. If you ever need help with technology, computers, websites, AI, or anything digital, I'd be happy to help.

Outside of work, I enjoy being active and learning new skills. I'm happy to help with gardening, painting, basic maintenance, cleaning, organizing, DIY projects, pet sitting, cooking, or any everyday tasks that need an extra pair of hands. While I'm not a professional tradesperson or gardener, I'm practical, reliable, and enjoy learning by doing.

I've lived in several countries and worked with people from many different cultures, so adapting to new environments comes naturally to me. I speak Romanian and English fluently and enjoy meeting people from different backgrounds.

Hosts can expect someone who is respectful, easy-going, curious, and dependable. If I don't know how to do something, I'll ask questions, learn quickly, and always do my best to leave things better than I found them.
