I'll be on a three month sabbatical in Uruguay, Argentina and Brazil from half June until half September.

Description

I’m happiest when I feel connected — to people, to nature, to animals, and to the rhythm of daily life. Whether I’m working outside, learning new skills, helping others, or simply sharing stories over a meal, I find joy in meaningful experiences and human connection.

I come from a farming family in the Netherlands (though I didn’t grow up on a farm myself) and I’ve always felt at home in rural life and around horses (I love to ride horses too!). I’m motivated by a love for learning and contributing. That’s why I’ve often combined travel with volunteering: it’s a beautiful way to go deeper, give back, and be part of something authentic.

I also have experience in tourism — I’ve guided cycling trips through East Africa for charity and host international guests at my home through Airbnb. Creating warm, welcoming experiences for others is something I truly enjoy.

I have a positive, proactive mindset and truly enjoy making myself useful while learning about different ways of living.

Traveling is a big part of my life — I love exploring new cultures, meeting people from different backgrounds, and hearing their stories. I try to approach life with a cheerful and open attitude, and I look forward to creating new memories together, wherever I go.

That’s what brought me to Workaway: the chance to be part of something real, hands-on, and human.

Here’s a bit more about my skills, experience and abilities:

🐄 Farming background:
I come from a Dutch farming family. While I didn’t grow up on a farm myself, I spent many holidays helping on my grandparents’ and relatives’ farms — herding cattle on horseback, feeding animals, cleaning stables, gardening.

🐎 Experience with horses:
I’ve ridden horses since I was young and absolutely love being around them. It always brings me peace and joy.

🌍 Hospitality & tourism:
- I’ve guided cycling tours in Kenya and Tanzania for charity — organizing logistics, guest care, giving presentations, organizing project visits, making sure everyone has an amazing experience.
- I host international guests in my home through Airbnb and love making people feel welcome.

💬 Communications & media:
- I work in communications for a health-focused NGO.
- I have experience with anything communications related (social media, storytelling, websites, content creation, PR etc) — happy to support with this if needed.

🎉 Organisational skills:
- I regularly organise events and love bringing people together, whether it’s for work or fun.

🎨 Creative mindset:
- I love painting, drawing and hands-on crafting.

✈️ Life experience & cultural connection:
- I’ve traveled extensively across Europe, Asia, Africa, and Latin America.
- I connect easily with different people and enjoy learning from diverse cultures and ways of life.
