Hello there, we're Emma and Joel from the UK!

I (Joel) was born and raised in South Wales, and Emma is from the South West of England, Devon. I currently work for a charity as a Digital Content Manager and Emma works for the NHS as an Occupational Therapist. From July, we'll be in Canada (mainly BC) for around 3 months taking a break from our jobs.

We're very outdoorsy people: hiking, swimming, camping and paddleboarding as often as possible. We also enjoy staying in and being cosy: reading, writing, crocheting, moulding clay and painting

We are looking for a Workaway to do together and would love the experience of being out in nature, meeting new people, working hard, and supporting people with their homesteads and projects.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I (Emma) previously did a month-long Workaway at a farm and dog boarding business in British Columbia, Canada. Here I took part in all of the daily tasks of running a farm, including taking care of the animals, cleaning, gardening, and cooking. I have experience working with children, where I worked at a specialised school for children with autism and often took part in supporting children get to Forest school. I have experience of working in Healthcare, particurly mental health services and I also currently volunteer as a befriended for older adults in the community. I really enjoy anything arts and craft based, especially crochet, painting, candle making and pottery! I love being outside in nature and want to make the conscious effort to do this more.

I (Joel) once spent 3 months pet and housesitting across the UK and still do it on occasion. I'm very used to taking care of pets of all kinds and people's homes. I grew up in a family of tradesman, so throughout my teens into my mid 20s, I worked occasionally as a labourer across building, carpentry, roofing and bricklaying. I'm not especially skilled, but comfortable working with power tools, at height and understand what it means to work hard in this environment. I enjoy reading, poetry, writing, and outdoor activities such as hiking and paddle boarding.
