Hello!

My name is Emilia, and I'm 31 years old young Finnish woman with a desire to see the world, meet people and find important things to work for.

At the moment I'm interested in working in animal welfare, in hostels and customer service, as well as with NGO and community projects.

I have lived quite a simple and normal life, studying and working the way it’s expected. More and more I've realised it's the people and working with meaningful things that matter more, rather than pursuing a top career and higher income. For this reason I started my journey as a Workawayer.

During the first two months of my travel I've worked in a vineyard harvesting grapes, and at a olive farm learning about olive oil and it's processing as well as taking part in a reforestation project.

At my background I’m a biologist, or to be precise, a cell and molecular biologist. I'm interested in ecology and environmental matters; I value sustainable lifestyle and try to live that way. Nature and environmental aspects have always been close to my heart and I love animals. I’d be more than happy to work with and for them.

I enjoy doing sports and I’m an active person. I enjoy exploring surroundings walking, running, hiking, with bike or kayak… in many different ways that don’t need four tires and gasoline. I also love food, cooking and baking, talking about it and trying different recipes.

People would describe me friendly, reasonable and reliable. I value equality and respecting others. Somehow, I have a need of taking care of others and making sure everyone feels good. In that way I'm a mother-like person although I don't have any children.

I'm hard working and quite practical in many ways. I'm not afraid of getting my hands dirty or feeling tired after a day's work. I like doing things with my own hands and I like having diy-projects, small or bigger ones. I'm ready to do many kinds of work, animal-care and working in a farm, building and renovation, customer service and working in a hostel or at other accomodation...

As a Workawayer I wish I get to know new things, meet new people, see places they live in and hear their stories. I wish that during this journey I can help people on their tasks and mission, and find meaningful things to work for.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have a master's degree in science, with major of cell and molecular biology and minors basics in chemistry, pharmacy and nutritional sciences.
I worked for 4.5 years in a Finnish pharmaceutical company, first as an assistant then as a research scientist in oncology research. Now I'm looking for new experiences and the possibility to work with new interesting things.

In addition to work I've done on my field, I have worked in cafes and a book store so I have experience in customer service. In fact I’d be interested to try working in hostel or other lodging which I haven’t done yet.

I learn quickly and I’m eager to learn more things. I'm quite good with computers and softwares and I'm also able to teach these IT skills to others.

I like having diy-projects, small or big ones. I enjoy cooking, baking and doing crafts.

I'm active and I enjoy doing physical work. I don't mind getting my hands dirty.
