  • Description

Hello! I’m Dana, born and raised in the breathtaking landscapes of New Zealand, where my love for nature and the outdoors first took root. Over the past year, I’ve been on an incredible journey, backpacking across Europe and immersing myself in various volunteer projects. For me, traveling isn’t just about seeing new places—it’s about embracing new cultures, languages, and ways of life, especially those centered around sustainability and living harmoniously with nature. I thrive on slow travel, which allows me to deeply connect with the places I visit and the incredible people I meet along the way.

My experiences working and volunteering have been the highlights of my travels so far, ranging from permaculture projects and building straw bale houses to design, maintenance, hosting, and hospitality. I'm currently working in northern Norway, where I’m combining my passion for guiding, storytelling, and hospitality into one unforgettable experience.

With a background in design, over 10 years of hospitality experience, and a strong passion for sustainability, I’m always seeking meaningful opportunities to contribute, collaborate, and learn. I’m an outgoing and enthusiastic person who loves working with others, taking initiative, and embracing challenges to create positive change.

When I’m not working or volunteering, you’ll find me hiking, wild camping, experimenting in the garden, or curled up with a good book. I’m passionate about building connections, exploring new environments, and living a life that’s both adventurous and intentional.

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

    Education:
I hold a Master’s degree in Architecture and Urban Design, along with a Permaculture Design Certificate, both completed in Auckland, New Zealand. My education has given me a strong foundation in sustainable design principles, ecological practices, and creative problem solving - skills I love applying to real-world projects.

    Work Experience:
With over 10 years of experience in the hospitality industry, I’ve honed my interpersonal skills, adaptability, and ability to thrive in fast-paced environments. From hosting and housekeeping to guiding and guest relations, I’ve developed a knack for creating welcoming and memorable experiences for people from all walks of life.
My professional background also includes roles in architecture and design, where I’ve worked on projects ranging from sustainable housing to public spaces. Recently, I worked at a biodynamic vineyard and permaculture farms, gaining hands-on experience in sustainable agriculture and teamwork. These diverse experiences have made me a well-rounded and resourceful professional, ready to take on new challenges.

    Travel Experience:
I’ve always been drawn to the road less traveled. From road-tripping across New Zealand and Tasmania to backpacking through Europe and Vietnam, my travels have taught me to adapt to new environments, embrace cultural differences, and find joy in the unexpected. Currently, I’m working in Norway as a Northern Lights guide and in housekeeping on Seiland Island. This unique experience has allowed me to combine my love for hospitality, nature, and storytelling while living in one of the most remote and beautiful places on Earth.

    Volunteer Experience:
Volunteering has been at the heart of my travels, allowing me to slow down, connect deeply with communities, and contribute to meaningful projects. Over the past year, I’ve worked on permaculture farms, helped construct straw bale houses, assisted with design and maintenance projects, and supported sustainable living initiatives.
These experiences have not only expanded my practical skills but also reinforced my commitment to living and working in ways that respect and nurture the environment. I’m passionate about collaborating with like-minded individuals and communities to create positive, lasting impact.
