The best method I've ever found to spend time with locals is working with them.

I have learned several languages in my career, and I continue to speak 3 of them daily. I also studied Linguistics during 5 years, and was junior lecturer 4 years at the University of Strasbourg (France). I would be more than happy to teach my native language, French.

HOW I CAN BE A GOOD FIT
SOME PRINCIPLES
I have worked with many providers on many projects and I have noticed that these 4 PRINCIPLES are really important:
- a 'yes' is a 'yes' whatever it takes
- over time, someone willing to learn is always a better fit than someone who knows it all
- true knowledge is knowing what you don't know
- working with different people dramatically opens the mind
These are also the principles I strive to follow every day...

1) On RENOVATION
I know a bit of:
- carpentry
- drywall
- plumbing
- concrete
- tiles
- electricity
I am not a crafts-person in any of these fields, but I have done enough personal, family or friends projects to gain some useful competences.
I like good and clean work.
When I don't know, I like learning.
2) On WORKING TOGETHER/ WITH A TEAM
I like working with people, teaming up or managing.
But... I'm also happy when I have to work alone
3) ADVERTISING
I'm an expert in promoting local businesses on social media.
I've owned an ads agency for 7 years, and published a book on this subject.
4) Last but not least... COOKING, oh yes!
This is definitely an important skill ;-)
I'm a good cook and love to make every day a feast for the palate

4 PRINCIPIOS QUE HE SIEMPRE SEGUIDO CUANDO TRABAJO
- "sí" es "sí", cualesquiera que sean las consecuencias
- con el tiempo, aprender a hacer cosas nuevas es siempre es una buena opción
- saber es saber que no se puede saberlo todo
- trabajar con personas diferentes conduce a más soluciones

1) RENOVACIÓN:
Se un poco de esto:
- carpintería
- paneles de yeso
- plomeria
- hormigón
- embaldosar
- electricidad
Por ejemplo, con mi padre, este año, en casa de uno de mis 2 hermanos :
- abrimos el suelo para crear una escalera
- renovamos totalmente 2 cuartos de baño (con la plumeria y las baldosas)
- instalamos paredes y techos de yeso
- cambiamos la puerta de entrada, las ventanasetc. etc.
No soy artesano especializado en ninguna de estas ocupaciones.
Pero, hice bastantes proyectos para mí, mis padres o amigos que he adquirido competencias en cada disciplina.
Me gusta el trabajo bien hecho y limpio.
También no tomo riesgos inútiles, me protejo.
Y cuando no se hacer, me gusta aprender nuevas cosas.
2) SE ORGANIZAR MI PROPIO TRABAJO
Me gusta organizar mi trabajo, no hay necesidad de mirarme o decírmelo todo
Sin embargo me gusta trabajar con otros, ser parte de un equipo o liderar a personas
3) DIGITAL Y PUBLICIDAD
Soy experto en publicidad en las redes sociales.
Dirigí mi agencia de publicidad durante los 7 últimos años
He escrito un libro de 274 páginas en este ámbito
4) COCINAR...
Considero esta competencia como muy importante, porque es un placer de la vida
Dicen que soy buen cocinero, ya lo he hecho para grupos
También me interesa mucho aprender nuevas recetas en cada país que visito
