Hey! My name is Christian -

My priorities are, in essence, connection and competency. I have traveled and discovered massive fulfillment in the stories and experiences gifted to me by others and, in turn, sharing the threads of my own life. In that process I’ve been able to share my own skills and had the privilege of learning the crafts of others (be they arboriculture, excellent interpersonal skills, teaching, etc.). And I LOVE learning the tools of a new trade.

I passionately throw myself into the practices, work, and activities which cut to the marrow of life - raw, playful, or intricate - joyful, intense, or vulnerable - I lean into, and learn from, all of it. Whatever kind of work it is, I work hard, learn with humility and curiosity, and constantly drive to improve. I especially like working with people, animals (both domesticated and wild), and the environment (be it a garden, forest, river, or plains). I enjoy being part of a good team but can succeed when running solo too.

Investing deeply in community, culture, and individuals is incredibly sacred and exciting to me. I perceive traveling (and by that, I mean the building of a true home in a new place) as the process of becoming part of a greater community, growing my own community, and thus becoming of greater service to the world.


Things I thoroughly enjoy:

-Having engaging conversations or adventures with old friends or new friends, centered around passions and/or exploration of a new area or activity. Sharing the joys and experiences of life together, through chats and activities!

-Swim, hike, climb, roam, and in many other ways engage with nature. Exploring sweeping territories as well as the secret and subtle nuances of towns and cities also excites me, as such places are always evolving and changing, even if only in small ways.

-Travel - Exploring new places and connecting with new, diverse people and cultures in respectful ways truly exhilarates me! When I was younger I spent a year living in Iceland as an exchange student, then, after I graduated, I traveled to volunteer-teach in India for six-months, then lived for a time in Montreal, and I continue to travel to this day.

-Reading - Novels, nonfiction, non-narative, poetry, and essays. I seek minimalism in almost all ways except with books! I also very much enjoy writing - as a means of processing and recording (journaling) but also as a creative challenge and joy.

-ANIMALS! I grew up with many dogs, cats, birds, fish, and occasionally horses, pigs, sheep, and chickens. My parent is a long-time dog trainer and a one time wild-life rehabilitator, sharing with me a wonderful appreciation and deep-rooted respect for all animals and wild-life. Being in the presence of both wild and domesticated creatures brings me so much joy!

I am always open to learning new forms of communication/language and, more broadly, ways of perceiving the world.I have a deep and enduring appreciation and fascination with language. While I did not grow up learning more than English (which I delved into wholeheartedly), when I was living in Iceland I became moderately fluent in Icelandic and since then my curiosity and excitement surrounding language and communication as a whole has only increased. Over the course of the next ten years I will become moderately to skillfully fluent in ASL, Arabic, Spanish, French, and Swahili primarily, as my goal currently stands, through immersion.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Experience

-Arboriculture: Swinging from branches while pruning, felling, and planting trees, in all sorts of weather for long hours. I know how to work smartly and put in serious effort...while having fun!

-Animal Care (primarily dogs) - Over 15 years experience with attentive general caretaking, exercise, working with behaviors, and more.

-Landscaping: Working with the materials of the great outdoors.

-Server/Host - Navigating the bustle of a restaurant, filling all the roles, and smoothly connecting with customers and taking care of their orders.

-Personal care and support of individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities: 14 months (1 year of which was as a full time (60+ hours a week) live-in caregiver) -
I know how to keep a house clean, presentable, tidy - work well with changing and high-activity situations - manage multiple schedules and support the lives of the people who they belong to - possess a massive threshold for people being people, in nearly all circumstances, with all the joy and hard work that entails.

I enjoy creative challenges and puzzles, be it a strategic board game, an artistic project, or a team sport. Generally I have a lot of fun learning new games and arts and activities from people who enjoy them too!

When listening to quality music I stop everything else I am doing and listen with all of myself. Music of true quality is a gift which should never face a divided attention.

Going on little quests and adventures excites me! Deliberately trying each restaurant in a town or city and exploring their cultural tastes and traditions, day trips to hiking trails or lakes or a new village, or simply staying in and experimenting with food, a creative project, or a prank. Often times I enjoy doing this with friends (new and old) and other times I go it alone.
