Description

Hiya, my name is Charlotte, a 22 year old Scottish woman! I’ve recently graduated Edinburgh University with an undergraduate degree in Arabic and Politics, with some time to travel and explore different and unfamiliar places.
I’m a chatty and curious person who’s looking to help out and meet like-minded adventurous people, either through the work away experience or along the way. South-East Asia is somewhere completely different from my home country and I’m looking forward to experiencing new ways of life.
I enjoy outdoor activities such as hiking, nature photography, and taking in the views, but my down time can be spent reading, journaling or cooking for friends! I’m a vegetarian, and love sharing and learning recipes which maximise good energy with good ingredients.
I’ve not previously taken part in workaway or similar programmes however I have lived in other places outside my home country, such as Egypt for a year! This experience taught me to go with the flow and I loved connecting with multifaceted people. I can’t wait to chat soon for future travel possibilities :)

I’ve been interested in languages all my life, having studied French, Italian, and Latin in highschool. Wanting to branch out, I chose Arabic language as my undergrad, and as part of this, lived in Cairo for a year. I can read, write, listen and speak Fusha and understand and speak both the Egyptian and Levantine dialects. While in highshool, I also taught primary children French, and love teaching just as much as learning!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I graduated this summer from the University of Edinburgh, with an undergraduate degree in Arabic and Politics. Throughout this degree I gained an understanding of linguistics and an appreciation for many cultures. I really enjoy learning languages, and would love to take part in language exchanges with either English or Arabic. I’ve got limited speaking skills in both French and Italian also!

I have extensive hospitality experience, having worked in restaurants, bars, and festivals since I was 17. This past summer I worked the Edinburgh Fringe, not only improving my bar skills but took part in the ‘bump-out’ which meant I did heavy lifting and other physical bits and bobs.

For 2.5 years I was a volunteer swim coach, who worked with children ages 8-12. This taught me how to improve swimming technique while I also developed the transferable skill of teaching groups up to 8 people. I myself swam and still swim regularly as I can.

I’ve always been someone who is keen to pick up new skills, so no job is too small!

I love to swim, do Pilates and yoga. Always up for a boogie, I like meeting new people out and about, yet equally a night in playing board games like scrabble or a quiz night is right up my street!
