Kia ora,
My name is Charline, I’m 21 years old, and I’m from France. I’m in New Zealand for a year, and for the first time, I’m traveling on my own, with only my backpack as company!
Since I was little, my parents have introduced me to travel, and my grandmother moved to French Polynesia. This is what sparked my love for adventure.

What inspired me to travel to New Zealand are its stunning natural landscapes and the hospitality of its people. It’s also an incredible opportunity for me to improve my English by living with locals and communicating with individuals from all over the world, and discovering a new culture. With my English level, I can understand others if they don't speak too fast or have a strong accent, and I can make myself understood without any issues.

In my free time, I especially enjoy outdoor activities like hiking, canyoning, or simply enjoying the environment. I also love animals (especially dogs), reading, listening to music, discovering new foods, and last but not least, meeting new people and making friends (I’m quite sociable).

I’m excited to test different types of jobs (gardening, pet sitting, etc.) and to bring my skills, enthusiasm, team spirit, and motivation to new experiences!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Well, the time has come for me to share more about my skills and life experiences!

I come from a small village near Bordeaux in France, nestled amidst vineyards. Growing up in the countryside, I had the chance to be surrounded by many animals (donkeys, horses, cows, rabbits, chickens, etc.). Although I didn't have to take care for them daily, this immersion in a rural environment has made me familiar with nature and animals in general. Furthermore, I’ve always been surrounded by dogs since I was born, which allowed me to develop a natural and instinctive relationship with them. My dog, Nicky (my baby, my girl, my little angel) is a German Shepherd, and she has been an integral part of my life for 7 years. I’m used to taking care of dogs daily: Feeding, brushing, walking, bathing, playing with them, or simply offering them affection.

On the family side, I’m the youngest, with an older brother and sister. I’m also an aunt to a 10-year-old niece, and I have a 7-year-old and 5-year-old cousins. I’ve had many opportunities to take care of them, which has helped me develop a natural ease with children. I know how to build a trusting relationship with them, entertain them in a playful way, and stay attentive to their safety and well-being.
Regarding my academic and professional background, I completed a three-year university program in human resources after my high school diploma. During my first year of higher education, I joined a tutoring association in priority neighborhoods in Bordeaux. I tutored a middle school student twice a week, which helped me develop patience, pedagogical skills, and the ability to support someone in achieving their goals. During that year, I also completed a one-month internship at a hotel, where I was introduced to the field of accounting.

In addition to my studies, I gained significant professional experience, especially during my two years of apprenticeship as an assistant organizer at a public institution: Caisse des Dépôts. I worked on various projects: analyzing internal processes (identifying problems and proposing improvements), creating procedures and online training, and designing communication materials (posters, flyers, etc.). These experiences helped me develop many skills, such as teamwork, versatility, adaptability, analytical thinking, and initiative. These skills now allow me to adapt to diverse environments and find practical, effective solutions to new challenges.

After these years in an office setting, I now feel the need to pursue more hands-on activities, particularly those related to nature and my passion for animals. Motivated by my curiosity to learn new things, I wish to explore areas such as gardening or farm work.

I am a motivated person, very committed to my projects, and I bring enthusiasm and a positive attitude to everything I undertake. Beyond the help I can provide, I also aim to create meaningful exchanges with the hosts who welcome me, in a spirit of sharing. As a French speaker, I would also be happy to share my culture and teach French to anyone who’s interested. I also speak English at an intermediate level and I'm motivated to improve this skill through exchanges and interactions on-site.
