I am looking for a sustainable building project to expand my knowledge about ecological building materials. I am also interested to improve my Spanish and meet new people during this adventure.

Hello there!

I'm Carole, and I'm 27 years old. My pronouns are she/her. I currently reside in Brussels, working as an architectural engineer in an architectural office that specializes in restoring old (classified) buildings and monuments.

This is my first experience with Workaway, and I'm very excited about it. I want to find a small sustainable construction project where I can put my skills as an architectural-engineer to good use. What I'm really seeking is a new adventure that allows me to meet new people, learn a new language and acquire practical skills along the way.

Speaking of languages, I'm fluent in English, French, and Dutch, and I'm eager to add Spanish to that list. I consider myself to be a highly social and positive person, always open to new connections and experiences.

While I do take my work seriously and consider myself hardworking, I also cherish slow Sunday mornings, savoring a delicious coffee. Traveling and exploring new places have been a passion of mine since childhood, thanks to my parents who exposed me to diverse cultures during our multiple trips as a family. I prefer slow vacations, immersing myself in local cultures and getting to know the people and their traditions.

Beyond my professional pursuits, I have a creative side too. I enjoy drawing and painting. A big part of this travel will be taking some time off to focus more on doing some art.

However, one of my biggest dreams is to live close by nature! The idea of being able to work outdoors all day, taking care of a building and its garden, and learning about new plants and fruits excites me immensely.

I can't wait to embark on this Workaway journey, combining my skills, interests and desire to make meaningful connections with others.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have graduated in 2019 and have a Master in architectural engineering. For the past three years, I've been passionately involved in the renovation of old buildings, making it my day-to-day job. During this time, I've honed my expertise in creating new building structures and enhancing existing ones, which has been incredibly rewarding. But I would like to combine these skills with the apprentice of new skills, like learning about permaculture and engaging in a small community.

I have some basics practical building experience. During my year abroad in Sweden I had the opportunity to be part of a small building project, where we created an open atelier room for the locals. This space serves as a hub for the community, allowing people to repair their bikes, fences, and borrow equipment, among other things.

Furthermore, I would like to improve my drawing skills and play some music. Hence, I am on the lookout for a social building project that allows me to merge my practical and artistic interests. This way, I can make a positive impact while nurturing my creativity and connecting with like-minded individuals.
