Description

Update: We're currently backpacking from Italy to Greece through the Balkans together! We're super interested in Work-away along the way, particularly in anything a little bit short-term or flexible. We'd love to help out and learn a little bit more about where we are :) We can contribute lots of energy and open-mindedness!

Hi! We're Lily and Roberta, and we're taking a gap year before studying English and Classics at university. We grew up in the countryside in Cornwall, England and want to use Work-away to connect better with where we are travelling as well as be involved in some cool projects! We're interested in nature and growing things (we volunteer at home in a community organic market garden), as well as craft, art, languages, and culture. Both of us are keen to meet some interesting characters as well as to get our hands dirty with some work outdoors. Previous Work-away includes working with refugees as well as in farms and homesteads.

We have lots of practical skills, including sewing, cooking, DIY, gardening, mending, silversmithing, teaching, baby-sitting, animal-care, and even a little sailing. Others include writing, drawing, knitting, stilt-walking to name a few. We don't have an instrument but looove music and can teach you some Cornish folk dancing!

Roberta speaks German and French and we're both really into different languages, literature, philosophy, and history so maybe we can have a bit of discussion and exchange ;)

Most importantly, we look forward to connecting and sharing experiences with others!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Roberta: I have previously volunteered locally in a community organic garden as well as folk dance leading, and I have done a Workaway in France (different account) where I helped at an Ecofarm doing manual labour and domestic work. I am very artistic and have competences in drawing, sewing, weaving, etc and am a good (vegetarian) cook, and writer. I have TEFL Level 5 and have teaching experience from folk dance. Other than that I'm a quick learner and can readily pick up new skills.

Lily: I have worked as Front of House for different places over the years, where I thrive from working with people, which I also enjoyed while volunteered for two years at my local museum. I have experience in horticulture through time dedicated to community gardens, as well as volunteering at national trust gardens. For work i garden and maintain grounds, where i have learnt to work with my hands. in the summer I worked on a farm where I spent my time tending the orchard and the house, which I really enjoyed. im an experienced baby sitter, having done it for years, as well as being a pet sitter as I have lots of love for animals.
