Hello!

My name is Ben and I live in Northern England. I am taking a gap year in 2026 to travel and see the world, starting in Vietnam in February. I have a love for animals, the natural environment and meeting new people, I particularly enjoy cycling, photography, visiting art galleries and volunteering in my spare time.

I am pretty easy going any enjoy being in the company of other people, I also like my own down time, through reading a book, listening to the radio or going on photography trips in the countryside near my house.

On my year out I would love to immerse myself into a new culture and experience life in a different country doing something meaningful helping people along the way, whilst seeing new parts of the world. One day I would love to work abroad or for a charity, so the opportunity to travel to a part of the world I have never been to before and volunteer through workaway seems like the perfect way for me to get experience in different areas whilst helping people along the way! :)

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I currently work within the Civil Service in the UK and have also completed several volunteering roles in the past, some of my previous areas of work/volunteering have included:

- Working within the Civil Service in a large government department doing a variety of roles, such as general administration, finance management, developing government policy in key areas, promoted the department at public events through digital marketing and public speaking.

- Volunteering at a local community garden, helping with tasks such as gardening, building compost heaps, clearing leaves and signing up new volunteers to be part of the project.

- Volunteering within my local police force as a volunteer police cadet and volunteer police cadet leader, working with young people leading sessions to help them learn more about the police, as well as accompanying them to events in the local area.

- Volunteering within my local church serving food for their monthly lunch clubs events to the congregation.

- Volunteering at a local nature reserve, working with a team of people to complete a variety of tasks such as: raking grass, clearing paths and general gardening duties.

- Volunteering within my school as a mentor to young people helping younger students enrol into their new school acting as a buddy to help them with their problems alongside school teachers.

I love listening to a wide variety of music and seeing live music with my friends in my spare time, in addition I love going for walks and reading books. I also like playing badminton, bike touring, camping and running with my friends.
