Salut :)

My name is Arie, I'm 28 years old and I come from Herne Bay, United Kingdom. I'm currently working and travelling in Canada, and have spent the past 3 years working as Housekeeping Supervisor at Tyax Lodge in the South Chilcotin Mountains, BC. I love that part of the country but it's time for me to head east and experience Québec; a culture and people that I am fascinated by and want to immerse myself in. It is a lifelong ambition to become fluent in another language, so I want to push myself as much as possible to study and practice French while I am here.

I am a keen learner and will try my hand at anything. I have a strong work ethic, enjoy outdoor work and I am in good physical condition. As I have become older I have realised that, for me, learning is the most important thing in life and the most valuable use of time. This is what drew me to WWOOF. Some of skills I would love to develop more through WWOOF are DIY and agricultural skills. Maybe also some foraging knowledge would be cool.

I'm a very laid back person, I like to laugh and listen to stories. My hobbies include fishing, hiking and sports. I enjoy music, film and literature. I'm new to WWOOF but so far I'm really enjoying the experience.

I am very aware when staying in somebody else's home to be entirely respectful of their routines, cultural norms and private spaces - I am polite, clean and open-minded. I have no specific preferences for food, I like to try everything and don't like to waste. I enjoy beer and wine. I don't smoke but I have no problem with others smoking around me. I am very undemanding; I enjoy spending downtime with hosts and having conversations over dinner, but I can also look after myself when the host is busy and I do not require entertainment 24/7. The only thing I ask of the host is that I learn something valuable before I leave :)

I have a bachelor's degree in Liberal Arts and Sciences, specializing in Medical Humanities. I have worked at bars/events, theaters, care homes, furniture removals, kiosks and field research interviewing, but the bulk of my work experience is in housekeeping/janitorial roles.
