Hello! My name is Apolline de Schaetzen, I am 23 years old and I just completed my degree of International Relations at the University of British Columbia in Canada. I am an upbeat, energetic, outgoing, and passionate person seeking a new experience this summer! I really want to work on a farm or outdoors in general to connect with nature and slow down.

I am a passionate singer-songwriter who plays guitar. Music is my peace and life companion during the ups and downs of solo travelling and my challenging university education. I grew up in a big family of five children, so I am used to a little domestic chaos, making me good at going with the flow and contributing to family functions. I am also very good with kids, I have 7+ years of childcare in the recreation sector, babysitting and nannying.

Meeting new people, engaging in cultural exchanges, sharing the joy of music, learning new skills, discovering new places, being out in nature, and writing poetry and songs are all things that bring me joy. I am very interested in sustainability and the paths forward in the face of the climate crisis, therefore I am very keen on participating in a sort of sustainability-informed project. It has always been a dream of mine to go to Iceland, so I decided now is as good a time as any other! I am so excited to see where this WorkAway will take me. Quelles sont vos compétences ?

I have lots of work experience with childcare, research and community engagement. As an active runner, cycler and hiker, I am pretty fit, so I am able to do physically demanding tasks. While I do not have experience working on a farm, I am a strong communicator and can learn new manual skills quickly. I have some gardening experience from working in my home garden and I am a pretty good cook as I enjoy making good food. I am also a sewer as I used to make and sell clothes during the COVID lockdown.
