I have let my Italian go having been out of the country for more time than I spent in it now. I feel it's time to become far more proficient in it again.

  • Quelles sont vos compétences ?

My name is Andrew, I currently live in the UK but I am fortunate to have the freedom to travel and have some adventures while I am still fit and healthy enough to do so. I own a property in a small but vibrant town on the edge of the Cotswolds so renting it out while I am away is never a problem.

I lived in Italy for more than 10 years of my life and still feel that half of my heart is in the country and in fact after a summer back in Italy with my daughter in 2024 she decided she was done with the UK and decided to move back and now lives near Pescara, in the region of Abruzzo in Italy where she grew up. She is once again enjoying the Italian lifestyle.

However, although I still have a lot of Italy to explore I am also looking for opportunities in France and Spain, Andalusia in particular for reasons that will become apparent if you read on.

    MY WORK
I have a fairly unusual work history and skill set. I have expertise with website development (www.pulseprojects.co.uk) , SEO (www.pulseseo.co.uk), the internet, computers; property restoration, and in particular most of the trades required in the finishing stages to make house look beautiful; I have worked as a high end painter and decorator since I left school in between the other things I have done; I can turn my hand to most DIY jobs, decorating, tiling, hanging wallpaper, carpentry etc. I leave electrics and plumbing to those specialist trades but pretty much everything else I can do.

I currently work as a web developer, something I have been doing since the advent of the Internet. This means I can effectively be a digital nomad since I am able to work wherever I can get a decent Internet connection. I build websites mostly for small to medium sized business. More recently, working with my daughter, who can also be a digital nomad, we now offer SEO services as well.

During my time in Italy I got involved in property restoration and whilst I was not exactly hands on (other than my own property), I managed teams of builders on various restoration projects and dealt with the architects’, the geometras’’, and the builders themselves. I had six simultaneous restoration projects running at the time of the 2009 L’Aqulia earthquake when of course everything came to a grinding halt. It was this event that forced me and my family back to the UK.

I have also completely restored my own property in the UK which is a small Victorian stone built house that when I purchased it had not been touched for 30 or 40 years, so I pretty much had to do everything, insulation, new heating, new bathroom, new kitchen etc. If you are interested you can see the result here - https://www.airbnb.co.uk/rooms/655644844098552016?source_impression_id=p3_1738517721_P3Ko0FC09x2FOXKC - this is the listing on airbnb when I make the property available to others while I travel.

    MY INTERESTS
Like my work I have a fairly diverse set of interests. My main passion is photography, street photography in particular, and I have taught a number of people in the UK on workshops. I will be running my first one-to-one workshop in Venice in February this year (2025) and this is something I am hoping to develop over the next few years.

I also paint, currently mostly with inks and watercolour. Pretty abstract stuff. Whether it gives anyone else pleasure I do not know, but it keeps me sane!

I am not a great watcher of TV. Instead I love to cook, I love to read and I am learning to play Flamenco guitar, so anything near Granada is high on my list.

I do drink alcohol, but not to excess. Red wine with meals is the Italian way. I also occasionally smoke cigars, but usually only on a warm summers evening as the sun goes down, and never indoors.

Although I have the freedom and flexibility to be away from home for extended periods, as a UK citizen I can of course not stay in the EU for more 90 days withina 180 day period although depending on how things pan out I am exploring the possibility of an extended visa which apparently I could fairly easily get due to my circumstances.

My main trip for 2025 is during June and July.

    MY HEALTH
I am a young at heart, fit and healthy 60 year old teenager looking for adventures before I can no longer say that.
