Salut ! La ora na! :)

Nous sommes Alice et Julien-Yacine, originaires de Bretagne. Nous passons notre année de césure à explorer de nouvelles façons de vivre, de travailler et de voyager !!

Notre aventure a commencé en août dernier, nous avons quitté la France par la mer à bord d'un chouette voilier. Nous avons navigué jusqu’aux îles Canaries, passé un super mois dans une ferme écologique à Tenerife, puis nous sommes partis au Cap-Vert à la recherche d’un nouveau bateau pour traverser l’Atlantique. Nous en avons trouvé un, nous sommes partis… mais avons dû faire demi-tour après seulement un jour en raison d’un problème technique : une sacrée aventure ! De là, nous avons pris l’avion pour le Brésil, sommes tombés amoureux de la magnifique région du Nordeste, avons profité de l’énergie incroyable de Bahia et retrouvé de vieux amis à São Paulo. Maintenant, nous sommes au Pérou, quelques part entre Lima, l'amazonie péruvienne et les montagnes à 3500m d'altitude à cultiver des patates avec une petite dame. Début juin nous prendrons l'avion direction Tahiti, la cerise sur le gâteau de notre voyage :))

Nous sommes désormais à la recherche du dernier projet de notre voyage auquel contribuer ! Nous aimerions nous immerger dans la culture tahitienne, nous sommes des vrais couteaux-suisse, on peut vous prêter main forte pour de la construction, au jardinage, à la cuisine ou dans l’entretien général de la maison. On aime beaucoup les enfants, toujours partant pour des méga jeux! Ils ont fait grandement parti de notre voyage pendant tous nos volontariats. Et on adore les animaux et on serait ravie d'en prendre soin. Julien est passionné de cuisine, tandis qu’Alice, architecte de formation, est devenue gaga de l’éco-construction. Aficionados tous les deux des projets manuels et collectifs, on est facile à vivre, d'humeur joyeuse et détendue et toujours partant pour des balades ou des jeux de société avec de la musique chouettos :)

Pendant notre temps libre, vous nous trouverez en pleine nature — à faire de la randonnée, du surf, du skate ou simplement nous chiller sur un hamac ;) On aime lire, dessiner, coudre, peindre et même faire du développement informatique hehe

Workaway est pour nous une super opportunité de partager des compétences, d’apprendre une nouvelle culture et de vivre au rythme des tahitiens en découvrant leur île à travers leurs yeux. On a hâte de vous rencontrer et de faire partie de votre projet !

We’re Alice and Julien-Yacine, from Brittany, France. We’re spending our gap year exploring new ways of living, working, and traveling - always eager to learn and experiment.

Our adventure began last August 25th when we left France by sea. We sailed to the Canary Islands, spent a wonderful month on an eco-farm in Tenerife, and then headed to Cape Verde in search of a boat to cross the Atlantic. We found one, set off… and had to turn back after just one day due to a major technical issue: crazy adventure! From there, we flew to Brazil, fell in love with the stunning Nordeste region, soaked up the incredible energy of Bahia, and reconnected with old friends in São Paulo. Now we’re in Peru, somewhere between the mountains at 3,500 meters above sea level, growing potatoes with a little lady, Lima and the Peruvian Amazon. At the beginning of June, we’ll catch a flight to Tahiti — the cherry on top of our journey :))

We are now looking for the final project of our journey to contribute to! We would love to immerse ourselves in Tahitian culture. We’re true all-rounders and would be happy to lend a hand with construction, gardening, cooking, or general house maintenance. We get along really well with kids and are always up for big games and fun activities! We love animals and would be delighted to take care of them.

Julien is passionate about cooking, while Alice, an architect by training, has become completely passionate about eco-construction. We both love hands-on and collective projects. We’re easygoing, cheerful, and relaxed, and always happy to go for walks or play board games with some great music :)

In our free time, you’ll find us out in nature — hiking, surfing, skating, or just chilling in a hammock ;) We also enjoy reading, drawing, sewing, painting, and even doing a bit of coding hehe.

For us, Workaway is a wonderful opportunity to share skills, discover a new culture, and experience life at the rhythm of Tahitian people while discovering their island through their eyes.

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

Alice:
I'm passionate about anything manual and creative — like DIY, ceramics, and painting. As an architect, I love drawing and designing, but also building things with my hands. I've worked several times on construction sites using wood and straw-clay techniques. In my work, I’ve organized participatory constructions sites and created artistic and cultural initiatives that connect people to their territory. I lived in South America for two years (Argentina and Peru), so I speak fluent Spanish, and I can speak English as well.

Julien-Yacine:
With a background in statistics, I’m really into everything related to computers, the internet, and data analysis. I’m happy to help with anything in those areas! My work requires attention to detail, rigor, curiosity, and strong analytical skills. I’d love to put those skills to use in a project more connected to nature and the land.
I spent a year in Australia, so I speak good English, and I’ve just started learning Spanish.

We’d love to learn more about taking care of a garden and the land. We’re very interested in everything that goes along with it — planting, watering, maintaining, harvesting, tilling, cooking, and more.
Overall, we’re easy-going, enthusiastic, and attentive to our surroundings, people, places, plants and we love animals! :)
