Description

Hi, I'm Alex! I have travelled extensively during my 20s and am currently working and travelling Canada on an IEC Work Permit (expiration 24/04/2026).

Looking to work in BC for the summer and beyond, excited to enjoy the outdoors and see all the goodness that the west coast has to offer!

I have extensive experience working and volunteering on Organic Farms, small-scale permaculture projects and general landscaping/gardening. I also have a strong background in customer-facing roles (hostels, barista, server etc) and excel when interacting with others. As an example, I worked as a Volunteer Coordinator at a farm in the UK for 2 years, responsible for the recruitment and training of various types of volunteers from long-stays to local community event days.

I prefer a collaborative environment working with others, but am equally happy to work on my own and be given a list of tasks for the day to complete. I am reliable and maintain a positive attitude on even the toughest of days!

I love spending time in nature with good friends, camping, hiking, festivals etc and am looking forward to expanding my current experience to improve my fishing, canoeing/kayaking and cycling interests.

Ideally looking to work with a host that is a social environment (Hostel, Farm-crew or Eco-community) as I love meeting new people and swapping stories, learning from others and expanding my network of connection for further adventures!

Quelles sont vos compétences ?

-Ability to work well within a team, as a leader or follower
-Extensive experience working with customers and interacting with many different backgrounds (customer service and people management experience from barista to volunteer coordinator)
-Sustainable farming practical experience and knowledge (permaculture, syntropic agroforestry, no-till growing)
-Sustainable agriculture knowledge and practical experience
-Ability to use a variety of hand-tools and understanding of management practices to ensure completion of projects

After being in Ottawa and working in the city I realised that the times I am happiest in life were those I was working outside, in nature, with happy, conscious people with a common purpose. I have lived for some months in various eco or spiritual communities (Crystal Waters/Krishna Village/Koh Phangan) before and also worked in various hostels and farms in different countries. I am looking to be in a social environment where I can learn from others and share what I know.
