An incredible time. Our time as Christina's was amazing. We enjoyed girls days in town, gardening, hanging out together cooking dinner. Showing children around the farm. Many other activities that you do on a farm.
Tom took us out fishing. We also got to enjoy some home made Smokies from bison which was amazing.

Julia was an absolute pleasure to host. Although she had not lived in a situation where a little wood stove was her only heat source, in a motorhome, she adapted quickly. She loved working with the animals and was always cheerful. Julia and another girl I am hosting longterm got on famously and inspired each other, creating all sorts of dried
… read more fruits, candied peels and so on. We miss her infectious enthusiasm and would not hesitate to host her again and can highly recommend her for future hosts. Happy, safe travels my friend.

Christinas Farm was the first ever Farm I stayed on and experienced all the perks of living off grid. To be honest it took me a bit to get used to it but in the end I had trouble leaving as I loved it so much. I stayed in the motorhome and when I figured out how the wood stove worked it was such a cozy little home. I basically helped feeding and
… read more taking care of the animals twice a day with another Workaway. Different tasks filled the time in between like driving somewhere to get hay, getting everything clean in the animal areas again or processing a bison her partner hunted. Lunch was mostly leftovers or whatever you felt like and dinner was cooked by Christina. I’ve never tried bison before but absolutely loved it and Christina’s cooking. I gained a lot of knowledge about the life in the Yukon and it might be different but it’s great. I clearly fell in love with this province thanks to this experience. Christina is an amazing, funny, honest, supportive host with the kindest heart, her partner Tom is a funny and really kind person too. I’d love to come back one day to see all the animals and Christina and Tom again.

This was my 1st "off-grid" experience where they have to get their own water and relying on woodstoves for heat, etc. and I enjoyed it, even though it took me a while to get the hang of my wood stove lol it felt good when I got it going and kept it going myself. I loved all the animals, the 4 house dogs who we took for a walk in the woods, the 4
… read more retired sled dogs who were shy at 1st but loved cuddles in the end + the sheep, Chewbacca the alpaca who LOVES his food, Lola the playful cow, ducks, chickens, roosters, quails. Christina cooked great meals every day and Tom helped me with my wood stove troubles. I was only a short time with Christina, but I was immediately very well received. She loves her animals and especially her dogs. We really enjoyed our stay at Christina and Toms place, they live in a truly beautiful area. The wall tent was cosy and warm with the wood stove. The work was always fair and the food always good! I stayed twice as long as I planned and wish I could have stayed longer! Not only is the area incredibly beautiful, but life at Christinas farm is amazing.
