**THINGS CURRENTLY LOOK OVER SCHEDULED FOR THIS SUMMER**
...and change is the only constant!!!

We live on 5 acres of partially forested land, with a pond, creek and lots of wildlife, located on a dead end street, close to the water of the south puget sound. We are about 1.5 miles from Boston Harbor Marina and 8.5 miles from the Washington State Capital / downtown Olympia. There is no bus service out here, any more. We go into town as infrequently as possible, up to a few times per week.

Our house is old, awaiting myriad repairs, and can be quite drafty and cold in the winter. Our kitchen is in a chaotic 30' Holidaire travel-trailer, which has a tiny wood stove, rocking chair, and an over abundance of food production tools and supplies.

Our tiny guest room is at the opposite end of the trailer and barely envelops a queen sized bed, with a lamp and night table. Between these rooms is a private bathroom, with a sink and small shower. There is a shared toilet inside the ramshackle house.

There are also a few camping spots, although it can rain A LOT here much of the year. July-September are the driest months. It is mostly peaceful, with abundant wildlife (frogs, eagles, coyote, deer, otters, etc.) both day and night, as well as sounds of civilization at varying distances.

We dug rainwater harvesting swales, with the guidance of David Ahlgren, in fall 2018, and will evermore be planting a food forest and edible forest garden. We strive to live according to permaculture principles, are currently exploring ways to decolonize our mindsets and practices, and welcome Allies in Evolution.

Denni grew up in northern California, and has traveled to China, Europe and Thailand. He is an artist and master carpenter, with a lifetime of experience building and remodeling houses. He completed the first Master Composter program in the US, in 1992, and volunteered for Seattle Tilth for several years after that. He then spent a summer on the Seeds of Change farm in New Mexico, and completed the UCSanta Cruz AgroEcology program the following year. He loves to drum, dance and create beauty.

Jenny grew up in Hong Kong and England, and has traveled extensively in Asia, Europe, and briefly, Africa. She is a recovering product designer, and delighted facilitator, passionate about eating weeds, growing food, and fermenting things. Her certifications incude a BS in mechanical engineering~product design from Snodfart, an MA in Economics for Transition from Schumacher College, and an advanced aquatic bodywork training. She likes to sing in harmony with kindred spirits, dance, especially contact improvisation, and is a student of life.

We have named this place Presence Sanctuary as it is a place of refuge from a disorienting world. We welcome kindred spirits to visit and find allies in evolution along the way!

  • Hébergement

    Hébergement

We have a selection of tents, sleeping pads, bags and bedding, that can be set-up wherever you want on the land.

Also available is a tiny, private room with 1/2 bathroom. This is in the 30' travel trailer where we do all our cooking, which overlooks the garden and pond.

We love to prepare, share and eat food, and are organic omnivores. We are passionate about fermentation, and eating weeds, and so most meals include both these things. Mealtimes / schedules vary according to the flow of each day.

    Autres infos...

There are no buses here, and we are in a rural area. It is 8.5 miles into town, and we make the trip a few times a week. There is a lot of nature and solitude and peace here.

We have been adopted by a bad-ass, profoundly independent ginger cat, who prefers to live outside, and follow us around the garden...although she had kittens in our den, and also likes to visit, on her own schedule, be fed and get snuggles down there!

We have a slow Wifi connection, with sometimes several computers connected at once, and limited routers range. The cellular coverage here is quite variable / non-existent for AT&T, and seems great for Verizon users.
