  I'm currently looking for one volunteer available from 9–16 August (or as soon as possible) to help me build a wooden deck.
  
  No previous experience is needed; just a positive attitude and willingness to learn. I'll show you everything as we go.

  Hey! Nice to meet you. I’m Miguel, born in Portugal, in my thirties, splitting my time between Lisbon and the Algarve.
  
  Whenever I can, I escape back to Portimão: sunny weather, beach days, coastal trails and the relaxed rhythm of life by the ocean. It's where I feel most alive.
  
  I live in a traditional Algarve house in Portimão, within walking distance of cafés, markets, restaurants, bakeries and everyday amenities. The beach is only a short drive away and the region is full of spectacular scenery.
  
  Within easy reach you'll find:
  
  • Praia da Rocha (3 km), famous for its dramatic cliffs and golden beach;
  • Vau, Três Castelos, Três Irmãos and Alvor beaches (3–6 km);
  • The beautiful Alvor boardwalk and nature reserve (6 km);
  • Ferragudo (4 km), one of the Algarve's most picturesque fishing villages;
  • The Arade riverfront (2 km), perfect for evening walks and photography;
  • Endless coastal hiking trails with incredible ocean views;
  • Kayaking, surfing, stand-up paddleboarding and boat trips from the marina;
  • The world-famous Benagil Caves (15 km).
  
  Whether you enjoy hiking, swimming, photography or simply watching the sunset by the sea, there's always somewhere beautiful to explore.
  
  About me:

  I'm relaxed, curious and easy-going.
  
  I enjoy meeting people from different parts of the world and believe some of the best conversations happen naturally, over coffee after a productive morning or while exploring somewhere new...
  
  I love nature, books, photography, road trips, regenerative farming, vanlife, creative projects and learning practical skills.
  
  About the stay:
  --------------
  This year I'm gradually improving and refreshing different parts of the house.
  
  The projects are varied and change from week to week, so no two stays are exactly the same.
  
  Typical tasks might include:
  
  • organising spaces;
  • painting;
  • cleaning and decluttering;
  • moving furniture;
  • creative DIY projects;
  • general help around the house.
  
  we normally work together during the mornings for around 4–5 hours per day, five days a week, leaving the afternoons and the weekends free to enjoy the area however you like.
  
  You can spend your free time exploring beaches and coastal trails, going for a swim, practic surf, SUP, bycicle.... or simply relaxing at home. There is no fixed schedule outside the help, so you're free to enjoy your time in your own way.
  
  Accommodation:

  You'll have your own private furnished bedroom.
  
  The train station (connections to Lisbon and Faro) is about 5 minutes' walk from the house and the main bus station is around 10 minutes away, making it easy to explore the Algarve even without a car.
  
  Travel, visas and personal food are your responsibility.
  
  If you're looking for a relaxed place to experience the Algarve, contribute to a few projects and enjoy plenty of time outdoors, I'd be happy to hear from you.

  I’m happy to show you some of my favourite places, recommend local gems and help you experience a more authentic side of the Algarve, not just the tourist version.

  I host people who enjoy helping around the home in a practical and creative way while experiencing life in the Algarve.
  
  Current projects may include:
  
  • helping organise and improve different areas of the house;
  • decluttering and sorting items in the garage;
  • painting walls and refreshing spaces;
  • moving furniture and helping rearrange rooms;
  • creative DIY projects and decorative improvements;
  • general cleaning and upkeep.
  
  I appreciate people who are independent, respectful, tidy and happy to contribute to a shared living environment.
  
  If you have experience in DIY or creative renovation, that’s a big plus! I love learning new techniques and working as a team on small improvements to the house.

  You’ll have your own private bedroom, quiet, comfortable, with a double bed and storage space.
  (Please bring your own sheets and personal items.)
  
  The bathroom and kitchen are shared, with plenty of room to cook, relax and make yourself at home at your own pace.
  
  The house is centrally located, so cafés, restaurants, supermarkets, the mall, train and bus stations and the post office are all within easy walking distance.
  
  The beach is just an 8 minute drive away and the surrounding area offers endless coastal trails for hiking, as well as beautiful spots to swim, kayak, take boat trips, explore caves and enjoy the outdoors.
  
  MEALS
  -------
  
  Meals aren’t included as part of the exchange and everyone takes care of their own food. That said, it’s always nice to share a meal together sometimes and if we cook tgether, I’m happy to cover food costs.
  
  INTERNET
  ---------
  
  There is no Wi-Fi in the house, which makes it a perfect spot for anyone wanting a little offline time, or to focus on projects and nature. Mobile data works if needed.

  Yes. Though please note that the house does not have internet. This is perfect for someone who enjoys an offline experience, loves nature and is comfortable using mobile data occasionally. It’s a great opportunity to disconnect, focus and enjoy the Algarve at a slower pace.
