Description
My name is Susana. Me and my family found this lovely farm in 2008. Since then we are reconstructing it and making it work to be self-sustainable. My brother and my sister in law are agriculture engeneers and we love nature. We also have a rural cottage.
This rustic country house, made of schist rock is surrounded by fields with a great variety of trees. Among them you can find oak, chestnut, walnut and olive trees. While you enjoy a peaceful stay, you can go for a walk on amazing trails and listen the chirping of birds and the murmuring of water pounds. You can explore brooks with little waterfalls, a fish pond, and even a small fluvial beach. You also can observe the farm animals which are confined in protected areas. Besides all this you could enjoy the magnificent views laying on this typical intense green of "Minho".

THE HOUSE: there is a kitchen, dining and living-room with a fireplace, and a social WC; a bedroom with a double bed: - a bedroom with two twin beds. This room has a door directly to the exterior.
All the bedrooms have windows and private bathrooms.

CABECEIRAS DE BASTO" is a country village located in one of the most beautiful regions of North of Portugal. It is famous for its XVII century Monastery of "S. Miguel".
This region is known for its enchanting forests and majestic mountains (Cabreira, Barroso, Alvao). These mountains give birth to several twisting rivers, along which you can find lagoons and pleasant sandy beaches of fresh water. You can also find the beautiful "Ermal" Dam, and the breathtaking "Fisgas de Ermelo" Falls.
This region is also known for its rich history, beautiful monuments, ancestral traditions, quality of local produces and welcoming and friendly people. The gastronomy is excellent, standing out the famous "Posta Barrosa" (special steak grilled on coal).
All of these should be enough reasons to make worth your visit.

Great area of Portugal, friendly family to stay with. Renato is especially knowledgeable of local things to see and do and many other places. Only thing was that work days on the farm would frequently overrun 5 hours, although a variety of tasks kept things interesting.

I stayed on farm for three weeks and it was really interesting experience for me. I enjoyed the work, the food, the amazing people of this family. You have to come to meet them. Lot of fun, lot of stories and gorgeous countryside. Thanks a lot for everything. Take care and hopefully will see you again ;-)

My stay with Renato, Ana and Susana was fantastic. They are such wonderful, warm, friendly people.
It was so much fun working with the animals, planting blueberries and raspberries, and driving through the mountains - it's a truly beautiful area surrounding the farm and the town. And I learned so much!

We had a great time on the Quinta. The Quinta is a very nice place in a hillside with little streams for irrigation all over.
