Description
You are very welcome in 2024!
Retired social nurse Nina (born in 1956) has been working in addiction care and is married to retired journalist/historian Wim (born in 1951). We have two adult children - our daughter lives in Ouderkerk aan den IJssel and our son in Groningen - and three grandchildren. Two boys and a girl. Wim's son Paul from his first marrige lives in Waverveen, near Amsterdam.
We can do with some help in our non-profit cutting garden. We only accept Workawayers of 25 years and older.
We are happy to see you from april 2024!Types d'aide et opportunités d'apprendre

Around our house we have a garden of some 3.400 square meters. A part of that garden - approximately 1.200 square metres - consists of a beautiful cutting garden. In fifteen flowerbeds or so, of four by fifteen meters, many dozens of different kinds of flowers bloom from the beginning May up to late in September.
The garden is Nina's passion. And she can do with some help.
People can buy a bouquet of flowers for a small amount of money. They cut the flowers themselves.
A smaller part of the garden is a vegetable garden. The rest is mainly grass, hedges, trees, a swimming pool (8 x 4 m), a natural pond and upsetting.
The garden is a very attractive place for volunteers to help us with gardening, because:
• He or she (or they) can enjoy the outdoors;
• Can work with flowers and plants;
• Will be working in a relaxed atmosphere in the countryside;
• Where peace and quiet, nature and clean air can be enjoyed.
The garden is a non-commercial activity. The proceeds of the sold flowers return to the garden.
The village Ravenswoud (400 inhabitants) is located in the province of Friesland, in a beautiful but fairly remote environment (by Dutch standards), between two natural parks: the national park Drents-Friese Wold, 61 square kilometers, and the Fochteloërveen, more than 2.500 hectares.
Culturally important cities as the University City Groningen, the Frisian capital Leeuwarden (European Capital of Culture 2018!) and the Overijsselse capital Zwolle are nearby.Aide
The volunteer(s) will have to help in the garden. That is to say assisting in the broadest sense of the word: digging, weeding, seeding, cutting, pruning, planting, flipping dead flowers and all the other garden works that need to be done. Sometimes it's hard work, sometimes the job is easier. And there is always the the weather. You never know what you are going to get in the Netherlands...
And maybe - if you are able to - we like you to do some odd jobs like laying tiles, easy repairjobs, pikling barns and so forth. Call it general maintenance, if you like.
We can accomodate two workawayers at the same time. For a maximum duration of two weeks.Langues parlées

You will have your own, private bedroom and bathroom in a spacious house. In the summer you can use the swimming pool and several terraces in the garden. Free Wifi is available. Smoking in the house is not allowed.
Autres infos...
Southeast Friesland, where Ravenswoud is located, is a rural area and has a beautiful scenery. Het Drents-Friese Wold and het Fochteloërveen are famous natural sites all over the Netherlands and beyond.
The volunteers can relax if they like, but the can also enjoy cycling, walking, running and mountain biking in the clear air of south-east Friesland (Fryslân). The village Oosterwolde (12 km / 10.000 inhabitants) has shops, restaurants, several sports facilities (tennis courts for example), a fitness centre and an indoor swimming pool. In Appelscha (2 km) is a lovely outdoor swimming pool, tennis courts as well and a golf course.
If you wish we will take you on trips in the neighbourhood of Ravenswoud.
The University City Groningen (230.000 inhabitants) is about 45 km away, Leeuwarden 55 km and Zwolle 62 km.
The larger cities like Amsterdam, Rotterdam, The Hague and Utrecht are 2 to 2,5 hours away, by car or by train. The nearest railway station is in Assen (the capital of the province of Drenthe), 20 km from Ravenswoud.Informations complémentaires
