  Description

  Hello there ! My name is Oleksandr. We are a Ukrainian family currently living and working on the Camino de Santiago in Spain.
  
  A few years ago we had the opportunity to come to Spain and start working in an albergue for pilgrims. Since then the Camino has become an important part of our lives. We have also walked parts of the Camino ourselves, so we understand well what pilgrims need after a long day on the road.
  
  After two years of working in different albergues, we were fortunate to find a place in the small village of Itero de la Vega, in the province of Palencia. Today we manage a place that includes an albergue for pilgrims, a small hotel, and a bar where travelers and locals often meet.
  
  Life here is simple and connected to the rhythm of the Camino. Every day we welcome piligrims from many countries who are looking for a place to rest, eat, and share their experiences.
  
  We enjoy meeting travelers and creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for everyone who passes through our village.

  Living and working here is a very social experience because of the Camino de Santiago. Every day pilgrims from many different countries arrive in the village, bringing stories from the road and sharing their experiences.
  
  Working with us means being part of a small international environment where people from different cultures meet and spend time together. In the evenings, it is common for pilgrims to sit together (community dinner, for example) and talk about their journeys.
  
  You will also experience life in a small Spanish village. Itero de la Vega is a quiet place where locals know each other.
  
  We are always happy to share what we have learned about running an albergue, hospitality, and the culture of the Camino.

  Aide

  We are looking for one person to join our small team from April to October (about 6 months).
  
  This is a paid position with a legal Spanish work contract. The main responsibility will be helping at the bar: serving drinks, assisting customers, and creating a friendly and welcoming atmosphere for pilgrims from all over the world.
  
  Other tasks may include:
  - helping with check-in at the albergue
  - assisting with small tasks around the bar
  - keeping public areas clean and organized
  
  The position is full-time (around 40 hours per week). The schedule is flexible and the hours are spread across the week, usually with shorter shifts depending on the needs of the bar and the albergue.
  
  Salary is paid according to the Spanish legal minimum wage and fully formalized under Spanish labor law. In addition to the salary, accommodation at the albergue and meals during your shifts are included, which makes the overall compensation fair and comfortable for long-term work.
  
  We are looking for someone friendly, responsible, and comfortable interacting with international travelers. Previous experience in bars, hostels, or hospitality is very helpful. Spanish or English is useful for communicating with guests, but willingness to learn is enough.

  Language exchange is something we really enjoy here. We speak Ukrainian, Spanish and English in our daily life and work with pilgrims from many different countries. At the moment I would especially like to improve my English. I am also interested in learning French and Korean, and I enjoy practicing a few words in other languages whenever possible. Because the Camino brings people from all over the world, it is very common to have conversations in different languages at the bar or in the albergue. I really enjoy trying to speak with people in their own language and learning small things about their culture.

  Hébergement

  We provide a private hotel room in our hotel for free. The room is clean, safe and fully equipped for a comfortable stay.
  
  The room has a private bathroom, bed, linens, towels and fast internet access.
  
  Workawayers have access to a kitchen or can receive meals depending on their work schedule, also free of charge.
