Description
We are currently in the setup phase of a fishermen engine boat repair and community innovation space—built together with local fishermen.
This is not a finished workshop.
It’s a space in progress.
We’re looking for volunteers who want to be part of building something from the ground up, helping set up tools, systems, and early projects.
What You’ll Be Part Of
This space is being developed as a place where people come together to solve real challenges, from engine repairs to ocean waste recycling.
At its core: Gather. Build. Share.
Gather – Understand real challenges with fishermen
Build – Repair, prototype, and repurpose materials
Share – Exchange skills and ideas across cultures
Your role is flexible—you’ll help shape how this space evolves.
Setup Phase Reality
You might:
- Set up tools and workspaces
- Assist in repair and fabrication
- Contribute to recycling systems
- Test ideas (some will work, some won’t)
Some days are productive. Some are messy.
That’s part of building something real.
A Workshop with Space to Breathe
We keep a slower, intentional rhythm.
Daily silent hours (optional) — 8–9am — offer time to rest, reflect, or simply listen to the sea.
Hands-on work becomes part of this rhythm. Many find it grounding—a break from fast-paced, screen-based life.
Some past volunteers have shared that this environment helped them feel more settled and clear-headed.
This is not a therapy space—but it offers a different pace and focus.
Life Here
- Live in a coastal fishing village
- Share meals with the team
- Learn and exchange cooking
- Spend time by the sea
- Build real connections
Simple, not luxurious—but often deeply refreshing.
Purpose
You’ll be part of efforts to:
- Reduce marine pollution
- Turn waste into useful solutions
- Support fishermen with tools and knowledge
- Because this is still developing, there is real room to contribute and shape the space.
Food & Living
There are many affordable local restaurants and food stalls within walking distance from our place, so volunteers can easily buy their own meals if they prefer.
We also offer a shared community meal arrangement for volunteers who would like to eat together with us.
For those joining the shared kitchen arrangement, we ask for a small contribution of €3 per day per person (from arrival to departure) to help cover:
lunch and dinner on working days
basic shared kitchen supplies
simple breakfast/snack items (eggs, rice, flour, etc.)
daily kitchen and community operation costs
We also have a chef, and volunteers often enjoy sharing cooking from their own cultures too.
However, if you would like to cook special dishes from your home country, we kindly ask volunteers to purchase their own specific ingredients, as the kitchen supplies we provide are mainly for the meals prepared by our chef and basic shared cooking needs.
Who This Is For
People who are:
-Curious and hands-on
-Comfortable with uncertainty
-Respectful and enjoys community life
-Interested in real-world problem solving

I believe that an important part of volunteering is sharing culture and knowledge.
Almost every week during the weekend we will get invited to join the local's activities. The goal is to have a good time together, but mainly, discover the culture through locals' experiences.
For example, I brought the volunteers to visit : some farms, village industries, a school, and even participate in a local wedding ! I really enjoy sharing authentic cultures with my guests, so I do everything to make them experience new things.
For fishing enthusiasts, fishing boats are also available with some fee. Or you can just set your rod at the jetty for free.
There are a lot of food stalls in the neighborhood where you can try the 'asam pedas fish'. Which is a local cuisine here.

🙌 How You Can Help
No special skills required. All we need is your positive spirit and willingness to contribute.
1. DIY + Workshop Support ⚒️
We're constantly improving — from fixing boat engines, building benches, or organizing materials.
👉 If you love working with your hands (or want to learn!), this is the place.
👉 Most volunteers leave learning new skills— no experience needed!
> Bonus if you have skills in DIY or admin — but not required.
---
2. Maintenance & Living Space Upkeep 🧽
Being near the ocean means we have to fight humidity and rust!
You can help by:
Cleaning the workshop and kitchen areas
Painting metal surfaces
Tidying our tools and shared spaces
---
3. Eco-Cleaning & Village Care ♻️
Once a week, we go out into the village and coast to:
Collect marine waste and plastics
Clean the fish market and public restrooms
Recycle discarded fishing nets into useful or artistic creations
We believe in community-led action to protect our environment and uplift our village.
