UPDATE AS OF MAY 1, 2023:

We are currently looking for very responsible and trustworthy volunteer(s) to housesit our farm, while my family and I are in England at the moment! So this would be more ideal for someone that can commitment long term. Exchange would obviously be to housesit the land, while also caring for our animals and some land maintenance during your stay.

This could be a perfect opportunity if you’re a digital nomad and need a place to stay for a while. If interested, please reach out and we can arrange a video call to meet. If I feel you would be a good fit, then I can fill you in on the details and guidelines during your exchange in staying on our farm.

**PLEASE ONLY INQUIRE IF YOU CAN STAY LONG TERM, FOR AT LEAST 1 MONTH!

    THANK YOU! 🙏

    Chi 🌱 ❤️

    Hey Workawayers,

My family and I live on a small island of Siargao, Philippines. We moved here over 2 years ago, just before the start of the pandemic lockdown! Over the past 2 years.. we found a beautiful piece of land to live on, while building it from the ground up with no water, shelter, or electricity...not even a road to get into it! Haha

While we worked on getting these basic needs.. we also managed to launch a nature based preschool for our 2 children and for the community, while setting up the land to become a permaculture farm. Flash forward to December of 2021.. we then already had our water, shelter (which was also used as the preschool), electricity, and our own road to access the land! We also successfully built a community around the preschool and had reached full capacity, while we were harvesting eggs from our chickens and were ready to grow food. But then, on December 16, 2021... an unexpected category 5 typhoon, called Odette, devastatingly wiped everything away. We lost everything, just like everyone else around us.. and just like that, we were back at ground zero again.

Fortunately, we survived and decided to stay... and rebuild again. This time, it was cleaning and clearing the land. Trying to salvage what was left of our home and try to save some of the fallen mango trees. With the help of generous donations and helping hands.. we got back on our feet to rebuild new structures and recreate the preschool.

Now, 12 months later after Odette.. we finally just got electricity and water again. We’ve got a plant nursery, veggie garden, and a home that’s almost finished... but now really needing the help to keep the momentum going! As it’s mostly been my husband and I, while juggling our son Django (age 5) and our daughter Teal (age 4). We’re on the brink of relaunching the school.. so will need help in areas of teaching to farming and finishing building various structures.

We hope to find like minded people who share the same vision and mission as us. We need people who are open minded, willing to learn new things, are driven, enthusiastic, caring, patient, responsible, fit, energetic, hard working, friendly and have good communication skills, but most of all, we need people who are FUN! We would particularly love to hear from anyone with interest/skills in woodworking, art, craft, music, yoga, meditation, bush-crafting, native/vegetable organic gardening, permaculture, indigenous culture, environment, sustainability, water care or anything else nature related!

We want to build an environment for people of all ages, where they can come learn and grow with us at the farm. We’re big advocates of traveling and meeting people from all walks of life, so it’s perfectly fitting to be able to host travelers from around the world and get to share in each other’s stories and experiences. We look forward to meeting you and sharing this journey together!

    Many thanks,

Chi, Boley, Django, and Teal ✨🌱❤️

We live in the "Surfing Captial" of the Philippines. A place that brings people from all walks of life...on to this one small island. It is a sea of coconut trees and endless beaches to discover, that comes along with a laid back 'island time' vibe. So you will get to experience a place of diversity to local encounters of small island life. Also, a peaceful rural part of the island, but yet close to amenities and night life.

Siargao is a hidden gem and so much to offer, both the seasoned and fresh of the boat travelers. Being situated right on a mangrove estuary.. we already have a lot on our doorstep. Feel free to use our paddle board to explore the mangroves where you can paddle all the way under the sunset bridge and direct to the legendary surf break, Cloud 9.

We live in a small farming Barangay in the hills that surround the popular tourist destination of General Luna. This vibrant town has so much to offer especially the fresh seafood at the local market and an array of restaurants serving food from around the world. It’s a perfect melting pot of cultures of people that decided to make this island their home and the friendly locals that are always happy to help.

There are a cluster of islands close to Siargao that can be explored over time where you can go hiking, scuba dive, spear fish, or just simply relax.

The internet connection is usually pretty good for most of the area on the farm, but you would have to provide your own internet connection. We usually just use the data off of our phones or utilizing our hotspots. Can discuss further details on a phone interview. Thank you.
