  Hi dear international traveller!
  
  We are Veerle and Pablo, and our 13-year old daughter Mila. We live in a house in Almere (next to a train station) with 4 bedrooms, a big living room/kitchen, a bathroom and a veranda. And a little garden with an apple tree.
  
  We use one of the bedrooms as a private guest room for (international) volunteers who like to spend time at our place. We also have a double high bed, which comes in handy when we have more than one guest staying over.
  
  Part of the week Veerle actually lives and volunteers at a vegan rural eco-community in Ens (50 minutes up north in the beautiful Flevoland country side). It is a real haven if you like to experience life in a community in the country side, and an opportunity to learn about veganic farming and how to grow and maintain an food forest (run by volunteers). Veerle lives there from Monday till Thursday. The farm has 5 bedrooms that can host Workaway volunteers who want to combine learning about agriculture with community living.

  At home (in Almere) we are temporary not hosting long-term anymore after 10 years of hosting people full time. However, we do want to stay connected to the Workaway community and our 13 year old daughter has a strong wish to improve her French. She fell in love with French songs, starts speaking French in the middle of the day just for fun and if she could practice it with a native on a daily basis, her French level would increase even more.
  
  Therefore we are looking for French-speaking folks who would like to spend a shorter time (up to a week, maybe two) at our house. During 5 hours a day in which you volunteer you spend (weekday) time with our daughter Mila after school (from approx. 15:00 - 20:00). During the rest of the day you are free to explore the surroundings (eg. the nature reserve next door, Amsterdam just 25 minutes by train from here).
  
  On your working days are also in charge of doing groceries (together with Mila), preparing (vegan) dinner and doing the dishes, some basic cleaning in the house and daily shores in the garden (some weeding would be appreciated).
  
  We prefer a female person for this role, who likes to spend time with a teenager who loves to talk about puffins, play boardgames and geek out about science. We also open our doors for travelling moms with or without kids. Animals are welcome as well! We strongly prefer a vegan or at least a vegetarian person, or someone who is at least familiar with vegan cooking.
  
  OPTION 2: VEGAN ECO-COMMUNITY & FOOD FOREST EXPERIENCE AT ZONNEGOED / NO SHIT FOOD
  
  Just 50 minutes north of Amsterdam, in Ens, a vibrant vegan community project has taken root. We live and learn together on a 100% plant-based, regenerative eco-farm featuring a massive Food Forest at its heart. We work without pesticides, chemicals, or animal manure - focusing on agroforestry, green manure, and biodiversity. We invite nature in and truly accept that we are part of nature, learning every day how to live in harmony with our ecosystem!
  
  Our place serves as an educational hub for the food transition, veganic outreach, and agro-ecology. We are opening our doors for conscious people who want to immerse themselves in community life, share skills, and experience living in alignment with nature. During the winter season there is less work to be done at the farm and we focus on building a nice community vibe and welcome international volunteers to join temporary. You won't be part of the commercial activities, but support the community surrounding the farm and its inhabitants.
  
  We are looking for up to 4 vegan or vegan-minded people to join our eco-community for a stay ranging from 1 week up to several months this autumn and winter (2026-2027).

  You will become part of a welcoming, supportive vegan community. We have 4 comfortable private bedrooms (for 2 people each) in our farmhouse. Together, we harvest fresh food for our communal meals, share stories, and relax after a day outdoors in our wood-fired sauna and hot tub.
  
  We welcome singles, couples, and families with kids. All we ask is that you align with our core community values: veganism, LGBTQI+ friendliness, non-violent communication, and a passion for agro-ecological ideals.

  Living in a community is a shared journey where everyone contributes to daily life:
  
  1. Communal cooking & food prep: Preparing daily, wholesome vegan lunches and dinners for the household using fresh, organic veggies harvested straight from the garden and food forest.
  
  2. Hands-on garden & food forest care: Learning about veganic farming by helping out in the food forest and vegetable garden (harvesting seasonal crops like kale, cabbages, fennel, and root veggies).
  
  3. Creating a cozy community space: Converting one of our communal spaces into a warm, inspiring gathering spot with DIY carpentry, cozy interior design, and visual storytelling on the walls.
  
  4. Creative & digital skill sharing: If you love photography, filmmaking, graphic design, or writing, you can help us document farm community life and share educational content about agroforestry and veganic living with the world.

  - Languages: We speak English and Dutch. If you are learning Dutch, we’d love to practice with you!
  
  - Getting here: The eco-community shared farm house is close to Kampen Zuid train station. It’s slightly remote, so having a bicycle, camper van, or car is great for exploring the area, though we frequently share community rides.
  
  - Accessibility: While the ground floor of the farmhouse is wheelchair accessible, all bedrooms are upstairs and accessible via a steep flight of stairs.

  Nous sommes Veerle et Pablo, et notre fille Mila de 13 ans. Nous habitions dans une maison à Almere (à côté de la gare) avec 4 chambres, un grand séjour/cuisine, une salle de bains et une véranda. Et un petit jardin avec un pommier.
  
  Nous utilisons l'une des chambres comme chambre d'hôtes privée pour des bénévoles (internationaux) qui aiment passer du temps chez nous. Nous avons également un lit double en hauteur, ce qui est très pratique lorsque nous accueillons plus d'un invité.
  
  Une partie de la semaine, Veerle vit dans une communité végétalienne appelée à Ens (à 50 minutes au nord, dans la magnifique campagne du Flevoland). C'est un véritable havre de paix si vous souhaitez faire l'expérience de la vie en communauté à la campagne, et une occasion d'en apprendre davantage sur l'agriculture biologique. Veerle y vit du lundi au jeudi. La ferme dispose de 4 chambres pouvant accueillir des bénévoles Workaway souhaitant combiner l'apprentissage de 'agroforestry' et la vie en communauté.

  Option 1 : AU-PAIR FRANÇAIS(E) POUR PASSER DU TEMPS AVEC NOTRE FILLE DE 13 ANS <<<<
  
  À la maison (à Almere), nous ne faisons temporairement plus d'accueil à long terme après 10 ans d'accueil à temps plein. Cependant, nous souhaitons rester connectés à la communauté Workaway et notre fille de 13 ans a un grand désir d'améliorer son français. Elle est tombée amoureuse des chansons françaises, se met à parler français au milieu de la journée juste pour s'amuser et si elle pouvait le pratiquer quotidiennement avec un(e) locuteur(trice) natif(ve), son niveau de français progresserait encore plus.
  
  C'est pourquoi nous recherchons des personnes francophones qui souhaiteraient passer un séjour plus court (jusqu'à une semaine, peut-être deux) dans notre maison. Pendant les 5 heures par jour où vous faites du bénévolat, vous passez du temps (en semaine) avec notre fille Mila après l'école (d'environ 15h00 à 20h00). Pendant le reste de la journée, vous êtes libre d'explorer les environs (par exemple la réserve naturelle juste à côté, ou Amsterdam à seulement 25 minutes en train d'ici).
  
  Pendant vos jours de bénévolat, vous êtes également chargé(e) de faire les courses (avec Mila), de préparer le dîner (végétalien), de faire la vaisselle, d'effectuer un peu de ménage de base dans la maison et les tâches quotidiennes du jardin (un peu de désherbage serait apprécié).
  
  Nous préférons une personne de sexe féminin pour ce rôle, qui aime passer du temps avec une adolescente qui adore parler de macareuxMoines, jouer à des jeux de société et se passionner pour les sciences. Nous ouvrons également nos portes aux mères voyageuses avec ou sans enfants. Les animaux sont également les bienvenus ! Nous préférons fortement une personne végétalienne ou au moins végétarienne, ou quelqu'un qui est au moins familiarisé avec la cuisine végétalienne.

  During your exchange you will live in the middle of the Netherlands. Almere might not be as well known as Amsterdam, but it is actually one of the biggest city of the Netherlands. Many people from Amsterdam come to live here because it is very close to Amsterdam (30 minutes by train), but much greener. Our house is next to the train station and at a 5 minutes walk from a big nature reserve called Oostvaardersplassen (sometimes called 'Amsterdam Safari'). You can see hundreds of wild horses, deers, buffalo's and thousands of different kinds of birds.
  
  Apart from the natural beauty, you will certainly enjoy to have a look behind the scenes of ProVeg, the vegan non-profit organization Pablo and Veerle both work for, you will take nice vegan food (or prepare it yourself), maybe join us in events and contribute to make a change for a better world for humans and animals.

  Aide

  Edible garden:
  The house has a garden which is currently nothing but some pavement, a few plants and many weeds. As work-a-way volunteer you can help with weeding and the creation/maintenance of an organic edible garden. We are looking for a volunteer who has skills in gardening/permaculture, who can advice and implement these in the garden. There is no plan for the garden yet, so it will be up to you to design a plan, present it, get feedback and implement it. We will give priority this summer to people who can help with this project.

  Hébergement

  The place is a combination of an office (downstairs) and a family house (upstairs). Veerle and Pablo and our daughter Mila (2013) live there. At the top floor we have a spare room for one volunteer. It is pretty basic, but nice. We have a shared bathroom and 2 toilets (one upstairs and one downstairs).
  
  Daughter Mila (2013) loves to talk to volunteers and learn new languages. Once she likes you, she will show it to you by asking your attention basically all the time. And she will teach you Dutch :)

  Autres infos...

  We live next to a train station (Almere Oostvaarders). We have direct connection by train to Amsterdam and Utrecht. The House is smoke-free and free of animal products. We trust you will respect that.
  
  In Almere we have plenty of sights worth visiting, several nature reserves, a beach, a wild life rescue center, sport facilities and swimming pools. Of course you are welcome to borrow our bikes (in case we are not using them ourselves). Did you know we are actually located under sea level? True story!
  
  IMPORTANT: We receive many applications from Work away-ers. Several a day actually! This makes it difficult to react instantly. Please note your application will receive a standard answer in case you send us an impersonal mail just asking us to stay. If we host you, we would at least like to know more about you, your motivation, personality and plans.
  
  Applications will be read by Veerle, and if we are interested, we will invite you for a Zoom-call to get to know each other better. Also take into account that the house where you will stay will be completely vegan. It is not allowed to bring in non-vegan items. This is why we prefer to host vegans and vegetarians, even though our house is open to non-vegans who would like to experiment with a vegan lifestyle.
