    Description

Hello! My name is Niamh and I live on Inis Mór, the largest of the three Aran Islands in Co. Galway. I run a seasonal small family business here. Given that there aren't enough hours in the day, I am looking for someone to help me with general household duties, some DIY projects and a bit of gardening and cooking.

I’ve travelled and lived abroad quite a lot and I speak a few languages. I’ve studied and am very interested in social geography and anthropology and I love learning new languages. Discovering new countries and cultures really inspires me. I really enjoy hiking and camping so on days off I may be inviting you to the mainland for hiking and camping adventures. I won’t be able to mind you so please don’t apply if you need to be minded 😄 I also am looking for someone that is clean and tidy to maintain what I’ve already got going on in my house.

I have travelled to every continent and have done volunteering along the way. I spent a good few years between Asia and South America and I really enjoy getting lost in the wilderness and socialising with local people. I would like to give back to the world what it has given me on my travels. Since I know what it's like to learn new languages and be the outsider, I can relate to many different cultures and peoples. On top of that, I studied Anthropology and Geography and am still keenly interested in these topics. In Asia I worked as cultural liason officer in a hotel between the staff and the western clients and the needs of both. This was a big eye opener!

If you are looking to get back to nature and experience an island steeped in tradition, learn about the culture here from a local and even learn a few words of Gaelic, then do get in touch!

I could do with some help upcycling and with DIY projects. I also have a small vegetable patch and a greenhouse so would love some help to maintain this. If you’ve got a creative flair and would like to live on the island for 3 - 4 weeks helping out around the house and garden with a bit of cooking included, then please get in touch.

I speak French and Spanish and am always looking for opportunities to practise them. I would also like to learn Italian and Portuguese, having a basic understanding of them both already. I can teach you English and Irish in exchange

I can offer you your own room and the use of a bicycle. I live with two cats so you must like having furry friends in the house :) I don't share my house with any other humans so we will have ample space in my 4 bedroom house.

We will eat together in the evenings, often in my parents house, who live nearby. Of course if you are busy doing other things at dinner time, there will be a meal for you whenever you want it. I will supply breakfast - mostly it is coffee and toast for me, but we can discuss this if there is something else you would like.

I don't smoke but I am happy to host smokers if you are OK with smoking outside.

Living on an island, we are dependant on the ferry to bring us to the mainland. The service is very frequent and there is a shuttle bus to bring you to Galway.

On my time off I like to leave the island and go camping and hiking. There is room for you to join me if you enjoy outdoor pursuits too! I have two of everything :)
